  • Patent number: 12214613
Abstract: In a general aspect, unique unclonable physical identifiers are applied and used. A method of applying the unique marker can include receiving an object having a surface feature and forming a unique marker on the surface feature of the object. The unique marker includes a distribution of elements and conforms with a morphology of the surface feature. The method further includes extracting orientation information from the unique marker. The orientation information can indicate relative spatial orientations of the respective elements. The method additionally includes generating a unique code for the object based on the orientation information. The surface feature can be facets, surface patterns, textures, or other indentations of the object. The surface feature can include a region of the object that is susceptible to tampering.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 15, 2022
Date of Patent: February 4, 2025
    Assignee: DUST Identity, Inc.
Inventors: Ophir Gaathon, Peter Gillooly, Jonathan Hodges, Jeffrey Germain, Sinan Karaveli

  • Patent number: 9821278
Abstract: Constructs having membrane proteins stabilized by functionalized beta-sheet peptides are provided. The constructs can be associated with or covalently linked to supports. The support can be a membrane. The membrane can be used to selectively move desired particles from one side of the membrane to the other while impeding passage of undesired particles through the membrane. Methods of making and using such constructs and membranes are provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 25, 2015
Date of Patent: November 21, 2017
Assignee: The Governors of the University of Alberta
Inventors: Carlo David Montemagno, Jeffrey Germain, Kyle Minor, Sinoj Abraham, Hiofan Hoi, Yuan He
