  • Patent number: 5885179
Abstract: A hydraulic tensioner that uses a dimpled or grooved section in the cover plate to provide lubrication without the loss of oil pressure. The dimple directs a jet or spray of oil onto the chain as it runs by the tensioner. The cover plate also includes a depression, which extends down into the reservoir to add strength to the cover plate by stiffening.
