Abstract: Optical network systems and components are disclosed, including a transmitter comprising a digital signal processor that receives data; circuitry that generate a plurality of electrical signals based on the data; a plurality of filters, each of which receiving a corresponding one of the plurality of electrical signals, a plurality of roll-off factors being associated with a respective one of the plurality of filters; a plurality of DACs that receive outputs from the digital signal processor, the outputs being indicative of outputs from the plurality of filters; a laser that supplies light; and a modulator that receives the light and outputs from the DACs, and supplies a plurality of optical subcarriers based on the outputs, such that one of the optical subcarriers has a frequency bandwidth that is wider than remaining ones of the optical subcarriers, said one of the optical subcarriers carrying information for clock recovery.

Abstract: Described herein are methods of applying metals to substrates, where the methods include contacting the substrate with an aqueous metal plating composition comprising polyammonium bisulfate (“PABS”) and a dissolved metal or salt thereof. The methods allow application of metals to the substrate without need for electrical energy input or for an added chemical catalyst, chelating agent, complexing agent, reducing agent, stabilizer, or pH-modifying (or controlling) chemical compound.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating a video of a user-defined virtual reality scene are disclosed. Exemplary implementations may: obtain a scene definition; obtain camera information for multiple virtual cameras to be used in generating a two-dimensional presentation of the virtual reality scene; execute a simulation of the virtual reality scene from the scene definition for at least a portion of the scene duration; obtain camera timing instructions specifying which of the virtual cameras should be used to generate the two-dimensional presentation of the virtual reality scene as a function of progress through the scene duration; generate the two-dimensional presentation of the virtual reality scene in accordance with the camera timing instructions and the camera information.

Abstract: A system and method for creating, scheduling, and managing time slots for installation appointments. Embodiments of the present invention permit a trading partner to offer a customer the ability to schedule installation of cable services on-line. A cable operator maintains an inventory of time slots. One or more time slots from the time slot inventor are offered to a customer based on ordering information received from the customer. A customer selects a time slot from the one or more offered time slots. A cable operator then assigns an installation appointment to the customer within the time slot selected by the customer. A cable operator may also determine the status of the inventory of time slots (e.g., time slots allocated, time slots consumed, and time slots available) for a system, a location, or a trading partner.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for distributing iSCSI and SCSI targets. The initiator may assist in the distribution and order the SCSI commands. A subset of target storage processors may act as proxies. Target storage processors forward requests to a selected target storage processor which decides whether any and which of the other target storage processors is to process a forwarded request. The target storage processors may act as peers. A target storage processor communicates each received request to all of the other storage processors. Each of the target storage processors determines whether a request it received is to execute. A target storage processors may arrange themselves into layers to divide the SCSI and iSCSI protocol work. A distributed system associates each of multiple egress target storage processors with a respective ingress target storage processor and associates a set of blocks of storage with each of the egress target storage processors.

Abstract: This invention provides a useful system for attaching and detaching an external pad to fabric. The pad serves as a base for attaching accessories like pockets, ribbons, straps, decorative patches, labels, etc. The attachment solves problems with previous portable pockets; namely, limited useful life of adhesives and having to permanently attach one member of the VELCRO pair (either hooks or loops) to the apparel and associated problems of snagging when laundering such. The solution presented provides a light weight, flexible system which is unobtrusive to the user and economical to produce.
