  • Publication number: 20230349585
Abstract: A ducting system includes an elongate duct section or length and formed flange connectors at each end of the duct. Both the duct section and the flange connectors are elliptical in cross section, defined by a major axis and a minor axis. The elliptical cross section has the advantage of reducing the overall height of the duct system along minor axis, as well as defining a rigid structure due to there being no flat surface about the circumference of the duct, while also capable of transporting a significant volume of air relative to a circular duct system of the same size perimeter.

  • Patent number: 7216898
Abstract: Flanged rings for the connection end-to-end of thin, double walled circular ducting includes a first generally-circularly shaped ring having an outer insertion flange for connection to the outer wall of the double-walled duct. The first ring also includes: an exterior mating flange extending transversely from the outer insertion flange to define a first mating face; and an exterior hem that is substantially concentric to the outer flange to extend outwardly from the outer perimeter of the exterior mating flange. The flanged ring also includes: a second ring having an inner insertion flange connectable to the inner wall of the double-walled duct; the interior mating flange transverse from the interior insertion flange to define a second mating face; and an interior connection hem substantially concentric to the inner insertion flange and extending from the outer perimeter of the interior mating flange to overlap and be connected to the outer insertion flange.

  • Patent number: 7082796
Abstract: A method of making Circular and Oval Flanged Rings, for the connection of thin walled circular and oval ducting, including Circular and Oval Flanged Rings having a Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association (SMACNA) standard T24 Profile. Thin gauge Lock Form Quality steel, from 10 to 20 gauge, is cut into strips with the strip ends butt welded forming Flanged Ring Band Stock which is inserted and clamped into a Spinning Die. The Spinning Die is rotated by a horizontally configured lathe output shaft presenting the extended portion of the Flanged Ring Band Stock for machine tool forming. Standard machine tools are used to form the Flanged Ring Band Stock into a Circular Flanged Ring including the SMACNA T24 Flanged Ring Profile. A Circular Flanged Ring is cut along a diameter into Semi-circular Flanged Ring Portions; straight segments including segments with SMACNA T24 Linear Segments are roll formed, assembled into a oval shape within a fixture and welded forming the Oval Flanged Ring.

  • Publication number: 20060104775
Abstract: A vehicle access system for moving a passenger between the vehicle and ground. Some embodiments have an electrical system, a motive source coupled to the electrical system, an arm coupled to the motive source, a platform coupled to the arm, and a safety restraint system coupled to the electrical system and the platform. The vehicle access system has at least a vehicle access position and a ground access position, wherein the passenger can safely access the platform at either access position. The platform is unable to move from either access position until the safety restraint system is in place. Once operation of the access system has begun, it can continue to operate and move the passenger to one of the access positions even if the safety restraint system is subsequently removed.

  • Publication number: 20020124614
Abstract: A method of making circular and oval flanged rings, for the connection of thin, double walled circular and oval ducting, from 10 to 20 gauge steel. The steel is cut into strips with the strip ends butt welded forming flanged ring band stock which is inserted 5 and clamped into a spinning die. The spinning die is rotated while machine tools are used to form the flanged ring band stock into a first circular flanged ring. A second flanged ring band stock is manufactured using substantially the same method as above. The two formed rings are attached to form a single flanged ring.
