  • Patent number: 10996132
Abstract: Blowout preventers, fluid pressure systems and portions thereof may be tested for leaks by calculating an Apparent Compressibility Factor which is determined during initial pressurization of the system to the test pressure. The equivalent decay rate is calculated by measuring the amount of intensifying fluid required to be added to maintain the system at the test pressure level. The equivalent decay rate in psi per minute is then compared to the acceptable decay rate for the pressure level of the test to determine if the system passed the test.

  • Publication number: 20200278032
Abstract: A dual seat valve assembly includes a first valve and a concentric second valve which together form a tight seal valve assembly. The valves open and close sequentially. A quick disconnect rupture disc assembly may be used in conjunction with the valve assembly to provide a required safety feature for testing high pressure fluid ruptures that include a dump valve.

  • Publication number: 20200217745
Abstract: A method and apparatus for testing a blowout preventer which includes a plurality of safety devices and an assembly of fluid control valves that are remotely actuatable to an open and closed position for controlling flow of drilling fluids into a well includes a hydraulic power unit control station for remotely and selectively actuating one or more safety devices and fluid control valves to a test orientation. A hydrostatic test system supplies fluid under first and second test pressure and documents any pressure loss due to fluid leaks within a closed system.

  • Publication number: 20180052071
Abstract: A method and apparatus for testing closed hydraulic systems such as a blowout preventer or wellbore and portions thereof for leaks by maintaining a constant pressure in the portion of the closed hydraulic system to be tested and imposing a pressure wave upon the constant pressure. A variable displacement pump is connected to the system for maintaining a constant pressure within the system and imposing a pressure wave upon the constant pressure. Any amount of fluid introduced into or removed from the blowout preventer in order to maintain constant pressure is measured and is an indication of the leak rate in the closed hydraulic system.
