Patent number: 11964864Abstract: Various exemplary devices and methods for heating fuel hoses and nozzles are provided. In general, the devices and methods for heating fuel hoses and nozzles can be configured to heat fluid dispensable by a user into a fuel tank or other type of container. In some embodiments, a fuel dispensing device can include a first passageway configured to pass fluid therethrough and can include a second passageway configured to pass heated air therethrough. The heated air passing through the second passageway can be configured to heat the fluid passing through the first passageway. In some embodiments, a fuel dispensing device can include a single hose configured to pass fluid and heated air through separate passageways therein, and the device can include a manifold configured to facilitate passage of the fluid and the heated air from separate sources into the single hose.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2022Date of Patent: April 23, 2024Assignee: Wayne Fueling Systems LLCInventors: Artemus A. Shelton, Randal S. Kretzler, Jeffrey Reiter, Daniel Holmes, Bengt I. Larsson

Publication number: 20240123231Abstract: A system and method for the automatic stimulation of a vagus nerve for post-stroke rehabilitation is disclosed. The system includes an application subsystem having an electrode positioned to stimulate the vagus nerve and coupled to a user outside of a surgical setting. The system also includes a waveform generator communicatively coupled to the electrode, and a triggering subsystem including a receiver configured to detect the presence of a tag. The triggering subsystem is communicatively coupled to waveform generator and is configured to automatically trigger the stimulation of the vagus nerve upon detecting the presence of the tag. The tag is located proximate a rehabilitation context such that the tag is detected when the user is using the rehabilitation context, resulting in the vagus nerve of the user being automatically stimulated by the electrode in response to the user's post-stroke rehabilitation training.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 28, 2023Publication date: April 18, 2024Inventors: Vishak RANGARAJAN, Devin DHOOGE, Kiryl SHELEG, Nicholas HOLMES, Jeffrey KLEIM, Bradley GREGER, Shivanshi SHUKLA

Patent number: 11519899Abstract: A method of diagnosing central nervous system injuries such as acquired brain injury (ABI) and/or acquired spinal cord injury (ASI), including mild TBI (concussion or blast wave), mild ASI (contusion, stretch or partial cord transection), non-TBI brain injury and/or non-TSI spinal cord injury in a subject (animal or human). The method includes (a) obtaining a biological test sample from the subject, identifying metabolites in the subject's sample using metabolomics thereby obtaining a subject's metabolite matrix and generating a subject's profile using the patient's metabolite matrix; and (b) using multivariate statistical analysis and machine learning to compare the subject's profile with predetermined set of profiles of CNS injuries and a predetermined set of profiles of controls to determine if the subject has a CNS injury.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2016Date of Patent: December 6, 2022Assignee: LONDON HEALTH SCIENCES CENTRE RESEARCH INC.Inventors: Douglas Dale Fraser, Robert Bartha, Arthur Brown, Tanya Charyk Stewart, Mark Daley, Gregory A. Patent number: 9909459Abstract: A fluid plenum including a body defining an internal cavity having an inlet and an outlet. The fluid plenum further includes at least one wall positioned in the internal cavity that divides the internal cavity into first and second passageways, and which also divides the inlet into first and second inlet portions, and divides the outlet into first and second outlet portions. The first passageway receives fluid through the first inlet portion and directs fluid to the first outlet portion, and the second passageway receives fluid through the second inlet portion and directs fluid to the second outlet portion. The first and second passageways extend first and second lengths that are different from one another, and also generate a substantially common back-pressure at the first and second inlet portions during flow of a fluid stream through the inlet, including a first sub-stream of the fluid stream through the first passageway and a second sub-stream of the fluid stream through the second passageway.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2014Date of Patent: March 6, 2018Assignee: Rolls-Royce CorporationInventors: John M. Roach, III, Jeffrey A. Holmes

Publication number: 20080077032Abstract: Methods for providing diagnostic information using endocardial surface data for a patient's heart are described herein. In some embodiments, endocardial surface data for the left ventricle of a heart is received. The endocardial surface data represents the endocardial surface of the left ventricle at multiple times over a heartbeat and is obtained using a volumetric imaging application. A representation in prolate spheroidal coordinates of the endocardial surface of the left ventricle at least a portion of the multiple times is generated using the endocardial surface data. The prolate spheroidal coordinates include a longitudinal angular coordinate ?, a circumferential angular coordinate ?, and a coordinate ? as a function of longitudinal angular coordinate ? and circumferential angular coordinate ?. A measure that provides diagnostic information related to the left ventricle is computed based at least on part on the value of coordinate ?.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2007Publication date: March 27, 2008Applicant: The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New YorkInventors: Jeffrey Holmes, Kevin Costa, Susan Herz, Christopher Ingrassia

Patent number: 5421656Abstract: A spacer (10) for a helicopter main rotor shaft (102) is mounted in combination with the main rotor shaft (102) and is operative to support the inner race (116) of the upper bearing assembly (110) of the main rotor shaft (102) and is concomitantly operative to restrain axial migration of the inner race (116). The spacer (10) comprises a body member (11) having a stepped configuration defined by an upper cylindrical segment (12) and a lower cylindrical segment (20) to accommodate the outer structural envelope of the main rotor shaft (102). The upper cylindrical segment (12) includes an upper annular collar (14), an intermediate annular collar (16), and a lower annular collar (18), and the lower cylindrical segment (20) includes an interface annular collar (22) and a bottom annular collar (24).Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 1993Date of Patent: June 6, 1995Assignee: United Technologies CorporationInventors: Anthony G.
