  • Patent number: 9423024
Abstract: A method of adapting transmission controls to locate synchronizer touch points in an automated layshaft transmission. This method may include actuating a motor to move a shift drum along a layshaft at an essentially constant speed; measuring a feedback current as the motor moves the shift drum; detecting a first spike in feedback current adjacent to a second spike in feedback current for a gear; determining a shift drum angle for the first spike; and adjusting a transmission controller to set a synchronizer touch point at a shift drum angle adjacent to the first feedback current spike for the gear.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 12, 2012
Date of Patent: August 23, 2016
    Assignee: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLC
Inventors: Jeffrey J. Tumavitch, Shawn A. Holland, Bradley D. Riedle, William L. Murray
  • Publication number: 20140209429
Abstract: A park mechanism includes a cam pivotal between Park and not-Park ranges, including a radial outer surface formed with angularly spaced lobes, a roller urged by a spring into contact with the outer surface, a park spring urging the cam toward the Park-range, a power source for pivoting the cam, and a pawl actuated by cam movement into a Park state and a not-Park state.

  • Patent number: 8308609
Abstract: A method for controlling a power-off downshift in a powershift transmission includes disengaging the current gear, synchronizing engine speed and a speed of the target gear layshaft by increasing a torque capacity of the target gear clutch, disengaging the clutch, engaging the target gear, and reengaging the clutch.
