  • Patent number: 7606588
Abstract: A method and apparatus for facilitating group communications across multiple groups of wireless communication devices is described herein. A first wireless communication device is joined to a first group of wireless communication devices, and a second wireless communication device is joined to the first group and to a second group of wireless communication devices. When the first wireless communication device sets a retransmit indicator in a group message transmitted to the second wireless communication device, the second wireless communication device automatically retransmits the received group message to other wireless communication devices in the second group.

  • Publication number: 20090167696
Abstract: A mobile terminal includes a housing, a first user interface located on a first face of the housing, a second user interface located on a second face of the housing different from the first face, and a controller within the housing and coupled to the first and second user interfaces. The second user interface includes a touch sensor configured to be used in tandem with the first user interface. The second user interface is positioned on the housing relative to the first user interface such that, when the mobile terminal is held in the user's hand, the first user interface is operable by a thumb and the second user interface is operable by a finger of the same hand. The first user interface is configured to receive a first user input, and the second user interface is configured to receive a second user input.

  • Publication number: 20080162697
Abstract: A method of sharing processing loads among a plurality of communication devices interconnected within a mesh network is described herein. According to one exemplary embodiment, a communication device with a processing load selects one or more helpers to share the processing load from a set of load sharing candidates within the mesh network. To select the helpers, the communication device assesses the available power resources for each of the candidates, and selects one or more helpers based on power availability criterion. The requesting device then allocates a portion of the processing load to each selected helper.

  • Publication number: 20070300267
Abstract: An electronic device is configured to facilitate the transfer of customized multimedia content. A controller encapsulates multimedia payload using data stored in memory and transfers the encapsulated multimedia content to a remote device over a communications interface. The data may include one or more user-selected start positions for the multimedia content, each being associated with a user-specified predetermined event. The device may also receive encapsulated multimedia content, and use the encapsulated information to update local memory. This allows the receiving electronic device to use the multimedia content as specified by the sending user without requiring the user to redefine the user-selected start positions and their associated predetermined events.
