    Abstract: This invention provides methods for equalization of a DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplex) fiber optic communication. Predetermined values of transmitter power adjustments are read from a database on an amplifier network element. New values of transmitter powers are calculated and applied to the transmitters in transmitter network elements. Also, methods for displaying the status of the transmitters and setting transmitter output power to maximum are provided.
