  • Publication number: 20120286102
Abstract: A manned/unmanned aerial vehicle adapted for vertical takeoff and landing using the same set of engines for takeoff and landing as well as for forward flight. An aerial vehicle which is adapted to takeoff with the wings in a vertical as opposed to horizontal flight attitude which takes off in this vertical attitude and then transitions to a horizontal flight path. An aerial vehicle which controls the attitude of the vehicle during takeoff and landing by alternating the thrust of engines, which are separated in at least two dimensions relative to the horizontal during takeoff, and which may also control regular flight in some aspects by the use of differential thrust of the engines. A tailless airplane which uses a control system that takes inputs for a traditional tailed airplane and translates those inputs to provide control utilizing non-traditional control methods.

  • Publication number: 20120207574
Abstract: A gripper assembly for use with a moving device. The moving device can be a mechanical device such as a robot. The gripper assembly includes a platform and an elongate arm extending from the platform. The elongate arm is in the form of least one elongate member. Each elongate member has a body which has a proximal end and an opposed distal end. A gripping mechanism is rotatably supported relative to the arm, and includes a holder having a pivoting arm pivotably joined to the body in the region of the distal end of the body. An actuator is in operable communication with the pivoting arm to impart pivotable movement to the pivoting arm and rotational movement to said gripping mechanism about a horizontal axis upon actuation of the actuator. The gripper assembly may have a center of mass substantially aligned with a vertical rotation axis of the gripper assembly.

  • Publication number: 20120205928
Abstract: A gripper assembly for a mechanical device includes an elongate arm in engagement with robotic translation and rotation means. The elongate arm has a platform with at least one elongate member having a bearing bore defined at a free extent thereof. Each bearing bore accommodates insertion of a bearing shaft upon which a gripping mechanism, such as a suction cup assembly, is rotatably supported. The suction cup assembly includes a pivoting arm having a pivoting bore in engagement with a free extent of a linkage element that establishes pivotable movement between the pivoting arm and an actuator means. The gripper assembly has a center of mass substantially aligned with a vertical rotation axis between an initial article picking orientation, wherein the suction cup assembly engages an article in a random orientation, and a successive article rotation orientation, wherein the suction cup assembly rotates a picked article around a horizontal axis for placement in an article placement position.

  • Patent number: 6357169
Abstract: A bait saver bucket with a multi-chambered container having separations for segregating different sizes of live bait as well as providing slots for segregating fishing lines having bait and hook attached thereto, especially while relocating equipment from one location to another. The multi-chambered container is comprised of an outer container for holding an amount of fluid therein and having a closure and a handle and having an inner floating container comprising removable basket-like compartments oppositely opposed and spaced apart by a cover member having apertures substantially conforming to the top openings of the basket-like compartments and having a centrally disposed aperture having a hingedly attached cover for covering the aperture and when opened providing access to the interior of the remainder of the outside bucket enclosure not occupied by the compartments. The cover has slots for allowing leaders to pass through the cover without being crimped.
