The user is prompted to select a sub-account from among a number of sub-accounts associated with the selected payment account. The user selects one of the sub-accounts, and the transaction is ultimately assigned to the selected sub-account by the account issuer. Assignment of transactions to sub-accounts is reflected in payment account statements rendered to the user by the account issuer.
