  • Publication number: 20240044187
Abstract: A vehicle glove box latch includes a housing, a paddle pivotably connected to the housing, a rotor pivotably connected to the housing, a pawl coupled to the rotor and having an end that is engaged with an opening in the vehicle, and a lock barrel mounted to the housing for locking and unlocking the vehicle glove box latch. In a locked state of the lock barrel, the pawl cannot be disengaged from the opening in the vehicle. In an unlocked state of the lock barrel, the pawl can be disengaged from the opening for opening the vehicle glove box. The lock barrel, the rotor and the rotor mounting portion are concentrically aligned along an axis, which reduces the depth of the latch, which reduces the space in the glove box necessary for accommodating the latch, thereby resulting in an increase in the available storage space in the glove box.

  • Patent number: 7861563
Abstract: A dual locking system having a manual lock and an electrical lock, and a shuttle connected to both the manual lock and the electrical lock. The shuttle is moveable by either the manual lock or electrical lock between an engaged position in which a hook on the shuttle can engage a prong and a disengaged position in which the hook does not engage a prong. Upon de-energization of the electrical lock, the shuttle remains in the engaged position if the shuttle was in the engaged position prior to de-energization and the shuttle remains in the unengaged position if the shuttle were in the unengaged position prior to de-energization. The dual locking system is incorporated in a latch.

  • Patent number: 7681424
Abstract: A latch has a pawl, a handle connected to the pawl, a manual lock for preventing movement of the handle between a closed position and an open position, an electrical lock for preventing movement of the handle between the closed position and the open position, and a shuttle connected to both the manual lock and the electrical lock. The shuttle is moveable between an engaged position in which the handle is prevented from moving from the closed position to the open position and a disengaged position in which the handle is permitted to move from the closed position to the open position. Upon deenergization of the electrical lock, the shuttle remains in the engaged position if the shuttle was in the engaged position prior to deenergization and the shuttle remains in the unengaged position if the shuttle were in the unengaged position prior to deenergization.

  • Patent number: 5742990
Abstract: A flexible over-center draw latch is disclosed which is adapted for securing together two closure members. The latch comprises a keeper mounted on the one closure member and a latch assembly mounted on the other closure member. The latch assembly includes a base which is adapted to be mounted on the second closure member, a substantially elastic latch body pivotally connected to the base and a lever which is pivotally connected to the latch body. As the latch is fastened, the lever engages the keeper to secure the panels together. The substantially elastic body member becomes elongated along its longitudinal axis as the latch is fastened. The loads which are produced by the latch body as it is elongated are distributed over the latch which ensures the connection of the components. The latch assembly also provides reinforced connection between the latch body with the base and the lever. The latch also provides a more secured fastened position due to engagement of the lever and the keeper.
