Patent number: 9438026Abstract: In at least some embodiments, a system includes a plurality of circuit breakers and trip control logic external to and coupled to the circuit breakers. The trip control logic enables a plurality of different tripping options to be selected for each of the circuit breakers.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2014Date of Patent: September 6, 2016Assignee: Unilectric, LLCInventors: Jeffrey L. Franks, Stephen E. Williams, Ray Cole

Publication number: 20160225562Abstract: A circuit breaker system integrated into a package including an input for coupling to an external electrical power source, an output for coupling to an external electrical circuit, and a current path selectively coupling the input and the output. A mechanical circuit breaker mechanism interrupts electrical power flow through the current path in response to a current exceeding a predetermined value. A trip solenoid causes the mechanical circuit breaker mechanism to interrupt electrical power flow through current path in response to a control signal. Voltage and current sensors measure voltage and current values of the electrical power flowing through the current path and a microprocessor selectively generates the control signal in response to the measured voltage and current values, along with and a control profile stored in memory, to energize the solenoid and cause the mechanical circuit breaker mechanism to interrupt the electrical power.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 28, 2016Publication date: August 4, 2016Inventors: Jeffrey L. Franks, Stephen E. Williams

Patent number: 4981467Abstract: An infusion device includes an infusion pump for delivering a liquid through an infusion conduit from a separate source of the liquid into a patient, a bubble detector for detecting the presence of an air bubble in the infusion conduit, and control circuitry responsive to the bubble detector for determining if the size of the air bubble is unacceptable. The control circuitry is configured to determine if during the time the air bubble is detected it advances a distance indicative of the unacceptable size, one embodiment counting the steps of a linear peristaltic infusion pump for that purpose.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1990Date of Patent: January 1, 1991Assignee: Baxter International Inc.Inventors: Donald E. Bobo, Jr., Alan A. Figler, Jeffrey L. Frank

Patent number: 4546551Abstract: The system of the present invention provides an electrical digital compass for use in a vehicle which includes a unique compensation and variation correction control which is readily set by the vehicle operator with the operation of push-button switches. The electrical display system and circuitry includes a microprocessor for comparing the information from a magnetic field sensor when the vehicle is aligned in a magnetically known direction and for providing a correction signal to assure the displayed output corresponds to the predetermined magnetic field alignment. In areas where magnetic variation is significant, the system generates, stores and processes a correction signal to assure the displayed output corresponds to the true heading of the vehicle. In one embodiment of the invention, a temperature sensor is provided to indicate the ambient temperature in which the vehicle is operating and which is digitally displayed to the operator.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1983Date of Patent: October 15, 1985Assignee: Prince CorporationInventor: Jeffrey L. Franks

Patent number: 4424631Abstract: A magnetic field detecting system for use with a flux-gate sensor includes an oscillator, the output of which is applied to a digital bandpass filter and frequency divided and also applied to the sensor, and phase detectors such that the frequency and phase of the output signals from the flux-gate sensor have a predetermined relationship to the excitation signal. In one embodiment of the invention, the direction indicating output signals from the phase detectors are applied to a suitable interface circuit for a microprocessor which converts the signals to a digital format employed for application, to an alpha-type display for displaying the octal magnetic orientation of a vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 1982Date of Patent: January 10, 1984Assignee: Prince CorporationInventor: Jeffrey L. Franks

Patent number: 4073855Abstract: A method for forming mirror assemblies, especially rearview mirror assemblies for vehicles, wherein a thermoplastic mirror case is held inverted with its side wall portions extending downwardly. The side wall portions are softened by immersion in a heated bath and are pressed into a forming die which supports a reflective mirror element to form an arcuate mirror element retaining lip about the peripheral edges of the mirror element. Apparatus for performing the method includes an indexing table which sequentially moves the cases and mirror elements loaded thereon to one position, removes the cases from the table, combines them with the mirror elements via the forming die, and returns the completed assemblies to the table.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1974Date of Patent: February 14, 1978Assignee: Donnelly Mirrors, Inc.Inventors: Marc A. Kamerling, Jeffrey L. Franks, Harold R. Wilson
