  • Publication number: 20140253906
Abstract: An imaging system may be collect information related to a specific gemstone such that a user may later access those images in a manner that allows the user to emulate a microscope. The illustrative embodiment of the imaging system may allow a subject gemstone to be rotated by 360 degrees in yaw, pitch, and roll dimensions relative to an image capture device, and the linear distance between the image capture device and the subject gemstone to be adjusted. The illustrative embodiment of the image capture device may record images of the subject gemstone at a plurality of focal points in three-dimensional space from a plurality of angles. A viewer system may be used to access images for a specific gemstone.

  • Patent number: 8212868
Abstract: A jewelry fixture having a mounting pedestal cooperatively engaged with the top side of a base is disclosed. First and second angled surface are cooperatively positioned on the top side of the base. The angled surfaces have a reflective or mirrored surface. The angled surfaces are positioned adjacent and perpendicular to each other. A jewelry holder allowing cooperative engagement with an item of jewelry is positioned between the angled surfaces and cooperatively engaged with the mounting pedestal on the top side of the base. The base has reference and prime positioning guides. The full-image jewelry positioner (fixture) improves the development of images for duplication or replication of jewelry or other items having detailed structures. When combined with a camera or a camera and a computer system, the images developed may be captured and manipulated for auto-tracing and duplication or replication of the item of jewelry.

  • Patent number: 6229564
Abstract: A system (10) for capturing an image of a piece of jewelry (17) contains a camera (14) surrounded by a dark reflector (16). The camera (14) attaches to a computer (15) that is operable to analyze an image captured by the camera (14). The camera (14) focusses on a piece of jewelry (17) held by an auto-tracing jewelry holder (12). The auto-trace jewelry holder (12) consists of a base support (22), a support member (24), an upper arm (26), and a moveable stage (28). The piece of jewelry (17) is held between the stage (28) and the upper arms (26). A reflective element (30) covers the top of the stage (28) and the upper arm (26). The reflective element (30) reflects the image of the dark reflector (16) directly back to the camera (14). The piece of jewelry (17) reflects only a small portion of the dark reflector (16) back to the camera (14). The image at the camera (14) is of the piece of jewelry (17) on a dark background. The computer (15) can then easily process this image.
