The set of preferred locations presented to the user may be enhanced to include the preferred locations of one or more other users. A user's browsing activities may be monitored from one or more different client devices or client application. A user's browsing volume may be graphically displayed.

A set of documents comprising a plurality of documents that satisfy the search request is identified. At least some documents in the plurality of documents have previously been annotated by at least one user of a plurality of users. A response to the search request is sent. The response includes a ranked set of links to at least some of the plurality of documents that satisfy the search request. At least some of the links are to documents that have previously been annotated by at least one user of the plurality of users. The response is associated with instructions to display one or more corresponding annotations for at least some of the links to documents that have previously been annotated by at least one user of the plurality of users. The response is further associated with instructions to display a filter selector including one or more filter options to reduce the identified set of documents.

In particular, the widget may be provided as a plugin or extension in the user's web browser, or be integrated in the web page by the content provider. The scope of the comments restricted to the set of users are defined by one or more access control lists, which allow the comments restricted to the set of users to be only viewable by a specified set of users (and not viewable by other users).

The system also provides for display to the user, using the one or more computing devices, information about the one or more messages including the content item previously posted on the social networking site to the user, where the information is provided for display before the request to post the message is received.

The request includes one or more referrer web addresses. The webpage includes multiple comments. The method also includes modifying a representation of an output for the webpage based on the one or more referrer web addresses. Modifying the representation of the output for the webpage includes arranging at least a subset of the multiple comments according to an order based on the one or more referrer web addresses. The method also includes providing the modified representation of the output for the webpage for generating a display on a client computing device.

Abstract: A method, system, and graphical user interface for improved web searching via user-specified annotations are disclosed. One aspect of the invention involves a graphical user interface on a computer that includes a ranked set of links responsive to a search request by a user. At least some of the links are to documents that have not previously been annotated by the user and at least some of the links are to documents that have previously been annotated by the user. The graphical user interface also includes one or more corresponding annotations previously created based on the user's input for at least some of the links to documents that have previously been annotated by the user.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and graphical user interfaces for improved searching via user specified ratings are disclosed. A rating icon for a document in a group of documents is provided. A user rates the document in the group of documents by performing a selection operation on the rating icon. A user-specific rating for the document is generated based on the user rating. A search request is received from a user. A plurality of documents that satisfy the search request are identified (including a first respective document which not previously been rated by the user but is in the group of documents that included the rated document.) A response to the search request is sent. Abstract: Computer-implemented methods for synchronizing data between a server and a client are provided. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a request from a client to synchronize data. The request includes a synchronization token that includes client recent synchronization signatures, each client recent synchronization signature representing a state of data synchronization on the client for a certain time period. The method also includes comparing each client recent synchronization signature with a corresponding server recent synchronization signature representing data on a server for the same time period. When the comparison indicates that the data on the client for the time period represented by the client recent synchronization signature is not synchronized with corresponding data on the server for the time period, then the method includes sending the data on the server for the time period to the client. The system updates the first value in each of the one or more identified entries, without updating the second value in each of the one or more identified entries. The system receives a request for one or more annotations, and sends information corresponding to an annotation value in response to the request.
