Publication number: 20140324491Abstract: Assigning parts to storage locations in a warehouse. Ratings of parts are determined based partially on pick frequencies of the parts. The parts with higher pick frequencies are determined to have higher ratings than parts with lower pick frequencies. Grades of storage locations in the warehouse are determined based partially on accessibilities of the storage locations to a loading dock. A programmed processor determines respective ranges of grades of the storage locations that will satisfy storage location criteria of the respective ratings of the parts such that the higher rated parts have narrower respective ranges of grades of satisfactory storage locations than the lower rated parts.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 29, 2013Publication date: October 30, 2014Applicant: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Jon M. Patent number: 6729833Abstract: An apparatus and a method to remove and install horizontal heat exchanger bundles. A continuous track and a main frame having a carriage frame with vertical hydraulic cylinders are used and achieve the stability necessary to support and level a heat exchanger bundle during removal from its shell at various vertical heights. The preferred configuration allows the main frame, hydraulic cylinders, pads and tracks which provide a large surface area on the ground, to remain on the ground as the hydraulic cylinders raise the carriage frame to the height of the bundle shell to increase stability of the apparatus. Moreover, the tracks allow the self-propelled extractor to move over gravel, asphalt, and/or soft uneven surfaces without becoming embedded into the surface. Alternatively, the carriage frame may be raised or moved using a crane or helicopter by removing the carriage frame from the main frame.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2001Date of Patent: May 4, 2004Assignee: Starcon International, Inc.Inventors: David E. Cichon, Jeffrey L. Wilson, Michael J. Uremovich

Patent number: 6522939Abstract: A production control system provides real-time monitoring of process parameters in an automated production line that manufactures contact lenses, the line and having a plurality of process stations with each process station having one or more process control devices that control production operations at each respective process station and generates production parameter data therefrom. The system includes a line monitor device for receiving an externally generated production order including a lot number, product type, and quantity, and further coordinates manufacturing processes at each of the plurality of process stations, and tracks order production. A plurality of cell monitor devices retrieves the production data from one or more process control devices and processes the data to ensure that production parameters are within predefined limits.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1996Date of Patent: February 18, 2003Inventors: Robert D. Publication number: 20020182048Abstract: An apparatus and a method to remove and install heat exchanger bundles. The apparatus comprises a main frame supporting wheel assemblies. A second frame is vertically displaceable relative to the main frame. A lifting system is provided which elevates the entire unit so that the wheel assemblies are off the ground a minimal distance to ensure stability and then the second frame is elevated the remaining amount to the final elevation of the heat exchanger bundle to be removed or installed. The preferred embodiment includes a horizontally displaceable portion of the second frame for supporting the heat exchanger as it is extracted from the shell side assembly. The unit is self-contained including power means to horizontally displace the frame to affect the displacement of the heat exchanger, lower the second frame relative to the main frame, and then lower the entire unit to the ground.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 23, 2002Publication date: December 5, 2002Applicant: Starcon International, Inc.Inventors: Thomas B. Boisture, David E. Cichon, Jeffrey L. Wilson, Michael J. Uremovich

Patent number: 5586052Abstract: An apparatus and method provides for the input of geometric data representing features of a manufactured part and data representing datums and tolerances for the features. Relationships are established between the data and degrees of freedom are determined for the part features and tolerances. The relationships and degrees of freedom are interpreted to determine if the tolerance plan defined by a designer is complete and well formed. If it is not, the designer may then revise the tolerancing plan to provide for a more consistent and useful tolerancing plan resulting in higher quality, lower cost manufactured parts and assemblies.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1993Date of Patent: December 17, 1996Assignee: Applied Computer Solutions, Inc.Inventors: Mark P. Patent number: 5020246Abstract: A grain bin structure having an inverted frusto-conical interior drying floor dividing the bin structure into a drying chamber and a storage chamber, and a transfer means comprising a rotating helical conveying system for transporting grain from the drying chamber to the storage chamber, said rotating helical conveying system having inlet means in communication with the drying chamber and outlet means in communication with the storage chamber. Preferably, the bin structure further comprises control means for sensing the moisture content of the grain in the drying chamber and for signaling activation of the transfer means when the moisture content reaches a predetermined level. The grain bin structure may also include improved diverter means for insuring complete transfer of the grain from the drying chamber to the storage chamber and deflector means for promoting even piling of the grain within the storage chamber.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 1990Date of Patent: June 4, 1991Assignee: CTB, Inc.Inventors: Marcus D.
