  • Patent number: 11547680
Abstract: The present invention relates in one aspect to the discovery of novel mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) templated around and comprising benzalkonium chloride (BAC). In certain embodiments, the BAC-SiO2 mesoporous nanoparticles are capable of sustained release of BAC under acidic conditions, thereby acting as a long release antimicrobial agent. In other embodiments, the BAC-SiO2 mesoporous nanoparticles can be incorporated into a variety of consumer products as an antimicrobial agent additive, including for example, but not limited to, surgical dressings, bandages, deodorants, soaps, facial cleansers and industrial cleaners.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4909617
Abstract: A camera hood designed to be threadably attached to the lens or lens filter of a camera and adapted for opening and closing by means of a pivoting lens cap. In a first preferred embodiment of the invention, the pivoting lens cap is secured to the hood by means of a hollow hood hinge which is fitted with a coil spring to facilitate retaining the lens cap in selectively open and closed configuration. In a second preferred embodiment the hood is slotted, in order to match and seat a companion flange provided in the lens cap when the lens cap is closed. In another preferred embodiment the hood is secured to an attachment ring in ratcheting fashion such that rotation of the hood in only one direction with respect to the attachment ring can be effected, to locate the lens cap in a desired position when the attachment ring is threaded on the camera lens and the lens cap is pivotally opened.
