  • Patent number: 6311873
Abstract: A system for automated vending of automotive fluid such as windshield washer fluid from large volume tanks. In one embodiment the system includes two or more vending control units and a fluid storage system that includes one or more fluid storage tanks mounted at a level above the vending control units. Preferably the fluid storage tanks are mounted to an over head canopy, either on the roof of the canopy or on one of the canopy support columns. Where two or more fluid storage tanks are utilized, fluid equalization conduits connect the storage tanks to each other so that fluid levels in the storage tanks equalize as fluid is added to or withdrawn from any one of the tanks. Two or more fluid dispensing hoses are provided, each one being associated with and controlled by one of the vending control units. Each hose is connected to the fluid storage system and dispenses fluid by force of gravity in response to selective activation of the corresponding vending control unit by a user.

  • Patent number: 5950738
Abstract: Using a standard ice auger having a central shaft, a spiral flighting affixed thereon, and an ice cutting blade at the lower end of the flighting, a cylindrical ice hole is bored through an ice sheet. The inventive apparatus, mounted adjacent a lower portion of the standard ice auger, is then used to form an inverted funnel-shaped area at the lower end of the cylindrical ice hole. The inventive apparatus includes a bracket mounted to the ice auger and an ice hole flaring blade pivotally mounted to the bracket. A spring biases the ice hole flaring blade toward a transport position wherein the blade has its free end extending toward an upper end of the ice auger. The ice hole flaring blade is pivotable to an operable position wherein the blade is aligned generally below the ice cutting blade of the auger and has its free end extending downwardly and outwardly from the central shaft of the ice auger.

  • Patent number: 5542676
Abstract: A biosensor feedback device for use in detecting a grip pressure and torque of a hand against a handle of a sporting implement. The device includes a flexible thin film substrate which is conformable to the handle of the sporting implement, and an array of digital pressure sensors disposed on the flexible substrate. The sensors are connected to a signal, such as a buzzer, that indicates detection of pressure or torque exceeding a desired threshold. The array of sensors can be divided into two or more sub-arrays of sensors of different sensitivities, and each of the sub-arrays can be connected to (or disconnected from) the signal as desired. The sensor-beating substrate is secured to the handle of the sporting implement by an elongated, stretchable tubular sheath.
