  • Patent number: 7233691
Abstract: Recorded images having an overlapping scene transformed into a Quantitative Cylispheric Stereo Pair (QCSP) of images. Pixels corresponding to a common scene object point are located in the same or nearly the same horizontal lines in the QCSP of images. The QCSP's produced can take a number of different formats, including traditional stereo pairs, radial stereo pairs, and general case cylispheric stereo pairs. The QCSP's can be used for various three-dimensional imaging processes, including passive volumetric surveying and the production of three-dimensional visualization models.

  • Patent number: 5633946
Abstract: Visual and spatial position information is collected and processed for the formation of a geographic information database. In addition, the information collected and processed can be used to update the United States Census Bureau TIGER/Line files to improve the accuracy of the files. Information collected and processed can also be used to accurately determine the spatial position of an object seen in the collected visual information. The method includes the high speed collection and correlation of video images and spatial position information.

  • Patent number: 5331849
Abstract: The present invention relates to a air data sensing probe that has a cylindrical barrel joined to a contoured strut section. The strut has leading and trailing edges formed along curved paths, and supports the cylindrical barrel at a position spaced from a mounting surface and facing upstream of relative air movement. The strut has a rounded leading edge, and is generally ogival-shaped in cross-section. There is a blended, relatively quickly-changing transition section to blend the trailing end of the cylindrical barrel into the ogival-shaped strut section so that the probe has reduced weight of the strut and drag, and through reduction of the cross-sectional area and rounding the strut leading edge, has enhanced anti-icing performance.

  • Patent number: 5319970
Abstract: An air data sensor (10) for mounting on an air vehicle (14), the outer end (11) is spaced outwardly from a surface of the air vehicle (14), a mounting base (12) and an outer end (11) which is provided with sensing ports (21, 22) for sensing air data parameters, the body (32) of the sensor (10) is made so that when viewed in the bisecting plane of the body (32), the inner and outer edges (34, 36) of the body curve continuously from the outer end (11) to the base (12). These edges (34, 36) diverge from adjacent to the outer end (11) to the base (12) to provide a very smooth streamlined probe (10) which tends to reduce drag.

  • Patent number: 4672562
Abstract: An orthogonally related target point array is provided in fixed relationship to an object. A photo detector image plane obtains images of the target points projected through a lens located a fixed distance from the image plane. Simple algebraic manipulation of image plane position coordinates of the images corresponding to the target points provides for the establishment of a vector replica of the target point array. The vector replica, in turn, is sufficient data to provide spatial information about the object including position and orientation information with full six-degrees-of-freedom.

  • Patent number: 4672564
Abstract: A target plane in fixed relationship to an object provides a first triad of three collinear target points which lie on a first line projection and a second triad of target points which lie on a second line projection which is in nonalignment with the first triad. A photo detector image plane obtains images of the target points projected on the image plane through a lens located a fixed distance from the image plane. Simple algebraic manipulation of image plane position coordinates of the images corresponding to the target points provides for the establishment of vector replicas of the position of the target points. The vector replicas, in turn, are sufficient data to provide spatial information about the object including position and oriention information with full six-degrees-of-freedom.

  • Patent number: 4394831
Abstract: An electromagnetic system for determining the orientation including position of a helmet worn by a pilot is disclosed having a transmitting antenna for transmitting electromagnetic field vectors, a receiving antenna for sensing the electromagnetic field vectors generated by the transmitting antenna, and a control apparatus responsive to the sensed electromagnetic field vectors and the transmitted electromagnetic field vectors for determining the compensated orientation of the helmet, the compensated orientation relying upon the rotation matrix determined by a previous solution for the orientation of the helmet.

  • Patent number: 4057859
Abstract: A flexible, tent-like structure, which may be entirely suspended above ground between sturdy tie points, encloses an occupant and provides an improved, cot-like sleeping surface. The structure is triangular in cross section and includes ropes running lengthwise of the structure along its three edges. Each of the three edges is concave when the structure is in an unloaded position. A spreader bar at the head of the structure and a triangular spreader frame at the foot of the structure are the only compression elements used. The structure may be tightly closed and a hole in the sleeping surface provides ventilation for breathing.
