  • Publication number: 20040005992
Abstract: Carpeting, upholstery, drapery and other textile fibers may cleaned by applying to the fibers, from an application device, an aqueous self-carbonated cleaning solution prepared by mixing an acidic partially-carbonated pre-spray solution having a pH of about 4 with an alkaline partially-carbonated pre-spray solution having a pH of about 10, to provide the self-carbonated cleaning solution with a pH of about 7 and carbon dioxide bubbles. The pre-spray may each be thus effectively used either separately or in combination. The application device may have a valve allowing the operator to control the proportion of acidic and alkaline pre-spray solutions that are used to provide the self-carbonated cleaning solution and to thus selectively adjust the pH of the resulting solution.

  • Publication number: 20030192963
Abstract: A pressurized system for the preparation and mixing of two or more component solutions comprising a cleaning solution to produce a prepared cleaning solution for use with various applicators in common use in the cleaning industry. The system is made up of a mobile frame for supporting a plurality of pressurized tanks which are connected through feed lines to a mixing tee fitting to produce the output mixed cleaning solution. An inline heater can be optionally added in one or more of the feed lines to provide heat to the component solution before mixing, and an inline heater can be optionally added after mixing to heat the prepared solution. Pressure is supplied to the system by an air compressor directly connected to each of the pressurized tanks so that the same pressure is applied to all tanks.

  • Patent number: 6126697
Abstract: Carpeting, upholstery, drapery and other textile fibers are cleaned by applying to the fibers, from a pressurized container, an aqueous internally carbonated non-surfactant cleaning composition prepared by admixing, by volume, about 125 ml (150 grams) of an alkaline metal bicarbonate or percarbonate salt, about 62.5 ml (57.4 grams) of a carbonate salt and about 187.5 ml (165 grams) of a natural solid acid, in an aqueous medium such that the natural solid acid reacts with the carbonate/bicarbonate salts to produce carbon dioxide and the solids concentration in the solution resulting from the carbonate salts and natural solid acid forming the basis of the cleaning solution. Citric acid, sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate are the preferred solid acid and carbonate salts. The composition is prepared from naturally occurring ingredients and the container is pressurized by air or other environmentally safe gaseous materials.
