  • Patent number: 4930646
Abstract: Composite capliner/innerseal for containers. The composite capliner/innerseal comprises, from top to bottom:(a) a capliner,(b) a layer of release film,(c) a first layer of adhesive,(d) an innerseal, and(e) a second layer of adhesive. The release film acts to separate the capliner from the innerseal upon application of a sufficient amount of force. The first layer of adhesive bonds the capliner/release film assembly to the innerseal; the second layer of adhesive bonds the capliner/innerseal composite to the mouth of the container.

  • Patent number: 4846095
Abstract: Device for indicating a critical temperature, such as, for example, the freezing point of a liquid. The device comprises a sheet which is a layer having a multiplicity of micropores therein and a mixture comprising at least two liquids, said mixture incapable of wetting said sheet at a given temperature, but capable of wetting said sheet when the temperature of said mixture reaches a critical value, such as the freezing point of one of the liquids in the mixture. The micropores, or voids, in the microporous layer cause scattering of transmitted light, causing the microporous layer to appear opaque. When the voids are filled with a liquid having substantially the same index of refraction as the material of the microporous layer, the filled voids do not scatter transmitted light, thus rendering the microporous layer transmissive to visible light.

  • Patent number: 4733786
Abstract: Innerseal for bottles or other containers comprising a facing layer, an insulating layer adhered to one major surface of said facing layer, and a thermally sensitive layer adhered to said insulating layer. In a second embodiment, the innerseal comprises a facing layer and a thermally sensitive layer adhered to said facing layer. Upon application of a sufficient amount of heat to the thermally sensitive layer, said layer will change its appearance in such a way as to provide an indication of tampering by means of heat.

  • Patent number: 4708249
Abstract: A tab formed on a length of pressure-sensitive adhesive tape and having a cut in the tab permits tearing of the tab and tape lengthwise to open a hole in a flexible packaging material to expose the contents. The tape is placed over an opening formed in the material and the tearing of the tape tab by separating the two portions on either side of the cut will cause a tearing of the tape longitudinally causing a single tear at the opening to propagate in opposite directions from the opening.
