Patent number: 11069008Abstract: A system and method are described that can help gas stations detect attempted thefts of gas or when there is leakage from a fuel tank or pump. The fuel pump can comprise a payment processing system or is fuel sensor to detect the amount of fuel pumped. The large fuel tank that supplies the fuel pumps can comprise a fuel level sensor to detect how much fuel is being used. The fuel pumps and tanks can send their data to the kiosk or some other location for analysis. If more fuel is being lost from the fuel tank than is being paid for at the pumps, then a theft may be occurring, or there may be fault machinery or leaks.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2015Date of Patent: July 20, 2021Assignee: Independent Technologies, LLCInventors: Jeffrey O. Patent number: 9877155Abstract: The invention described is a system and method for tracking assets. Mobile devices on the assets communicate their location to a central station. When the mobile devices are in an area with interference or no network then the mobile devices connect to a base station. The base station in turn can communicate with the central station and report on the locations of mobile devices connected to that base station. The base stations can be placed in areas such as warehouses, mines or other locations.Type: GrantFiled: November 11, 2014Date of Patent: January 23, 2018Assignee: NUMEREX CORP.Inventors: Rodney C. Patent number: 9801015Abstract: A system and method for determination the relative location of a mobile object is described that includes building a database of known/expected locations with the exact longitude and latitude for each location. Next, an estimated location for a mobile object is generated using information from the cellular network and an area boundary is defined around the mobile object that defines, with some probability, where the object is actually located. The known locations in the database that fall within the area boundary are then identified and a relative probability is calculated for each known location that indicates its relative likelihood of where the mobile object is actually located. From this information at least the most probable location of the mobile object is determined along with a measure of estimation confidence.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2014Date of Patent: October 24, 2017Assignee: NUMEREX CORP.Inventors: Wayne Stargardt, Jeffrey O. Patent number: 9235855Abstract: A computer can receive an alarm event data that results from detection of an event by an alarm system. The alarm event data comprises an identifier for the alarm system. In response to receiving the alarm event data, the computer can access a service subscription account associated with security services for the alarm system. Based on information maintained in the service subscription account, the computer can determine whether a processing service fee is associated with an action of forwarding the alarm event data to a central monitoring station or a mobile computing device associated with the service subscription account. If a processing service fee is associated with the forwarding action, the computer can record the alarm event data and the processing service fee in a record to support a creation of an invoice and forward the alarm event data to the central monitoring station or the mobile computing device.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2013Date of Patent: January 12, 2016Assignee: Numerex Corp.Inventors: Jeffrey O. Patent number: 8769111Abstract: A method for redirecting specific network traffic intended for a target device on a first data network is described. The method inserts a redirector into a first network in front of a target device and intercepting a transmission from the target device. The method then configures the network characteristics of the redirector to use the network addresses of the target device. Once configured the redirector inspects the network traffic on the first network to identify specific services, and sends the network traffic associated with the specific service to a destination device on a second network.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 2011Date of Patent: July 1, 2014Assignee: Numerex Corp.Inventors: Michael Camp, Stephen P.
