  • Patent number: 10637222
Abstract: An electrical outlet cover assembly having a base and a lid is disclosed. The base comprises a first base hinge aperture, and the lid comprises a first lid hinge aperture. The lid is hingedly coupled to the base by at least a first pin. The first pin is rotatably coupled to one of the first lid hinge aperture and the first base hinge aperture, and rotationally fixed with respect to the other of the first lid hinge aperture and the first base hinge aperture. The lid is biased from an open position to a closed position by a rotational bias from a bias element that is mechanically engaged with an end of the first pin and with an anchor rotationally fixed with respect to one of the lid and the base. The first pin may include teeth and is rotationally fixed with respect to complementary teeth of a hinge aperture.

  • Publication number: 20200083688
Abstract: An enclosure, such as an electrical enclosure, includes a base having a series of walls that define an interior, and a cover. The base and cover include a hinge arrangement that enables the cover to be secured to the base for movement between a closed position and an open position. The hinge arrangement enables the cover to be hinged to either a first wall of the base or an opposite, second wall of the base. A latch member is configured to be selectively engaged with either the first wall of the base or the second wall of the base, and is engaged with the second wall of the base when the cover is hinged to the first wall of the base and is engaged with the first wall of the base when the cover is hinged to the second wall of the base.

The electrical box comprises a mounting structure attached to at least one wall of the electrical box. The mounting structure is configured to mount the electrical box to a vertical wall structure such that the open end faces substantially parallel to the vertical wall structure. At least two extendable first rings each continuously surround one of the two open ends of the electrical box. The at least two extendable first rings are each slidably coupled with the electrical box via the sliding mechanical cooperation of one or more guides with one or more tracks, such that sliding either of the at least two extendable first rings in relation to the open ends of the electrical box expands the electrical box from the first depth to a larger second depth.
