Patent number: 11294784Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for providing predictive user interface elements. A computing system may train a machine-learning model to identify issues that are likely being experienced by users contacting a customer service system based at least in part on historical user account data of a plurality of user accounts. When a request for assistance is received, user account data corresponding to the request may be obtained and provided to the model to identify issues likely experienced by a user. A number of graphical user interface (GUI) elements (e.g., “match cards”), each corresponding to one of the identified issues, may be generated, ranked, and presented in accordance with the ranking. Each GUI element may be selectable. Upon selection additional data likely to be pertinent to the selected issue may be presented alleviating a need to search for this data as would be the case in conventional systems.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2019Date of Patent: April 5, 2022Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Erik Bergman, Katherine M. Publication number: 20090311449Abstract: An insulated glass unit (IGU) is provided. The IGU meets the industry standards for impact resistance while significantly reducing the weight of the IGU compared to conventional IGUs. In particular, the two pane IGUs of the present invention can meet or exceed industry standards for various wind storm criteria while reducing the weight and cost of the IGU. The IGU only requires one layer of film to meet the performance of previous IOU designs that require two or more layers of film laminated to two or more surfaces of glass.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 10, 2009Publication date: December 17, 2009Inventors: Hans Mark Fehlmann, Jeffrey Pratt, John Storms, Michael W. Sullivan, David W. Avison, Karen Hayden, Frank A. Mannarino

Publication number: 20050186372Abstract: Molded articles which include at least one layer of a fluoropolymer and at least one layer of a thermoplastic polymer. More particularly, molded bottles having a layer of a fluoropolymer attached to a layer of a polyethylene via an intermediate adhesive tie layer. The molded articles are preferably formed such that the fluoropolymer layer is either the innermost layer or central layer of the multilayered structure. The adhesives that are employed are useful in adhering layers of dissimilar polymeric materials that are otherwise incompatible and achieve a significantly improved interlayer bond strength between a fluoropolymer layer and a thermoplastic polymer layer.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 20, 2004Publication date: August 25, 2005Inventors: Jayesh Shah, Frank Colombo, Eric Rainal, Thomas Krolick, Jeffrey Pratt, Sangkeun Rhee, John Blum, Steven Pendlebury, Michael Vecchia

Patent number: 5907403Abstract: A strain sensor has a first optical fiber (212) including first (212e.sub.1) and second (212e.sub.2) ends and also includes lead-in (12) and lead-out (16) optical fibers. One (12) of the lead-in and the lead-out fiber has a first end (12e) affixed to the first end of the first fiber, forming a first partially reflective surface (214). The other one (16) of the lead-in and lead-out fibers has a first end (16e) located at a second distance (S) from the second end (212e.sub.2) of the first fiber (212). The sensor includes a glass tube (30), with a bore (32), affixed to at least the other one of the fibers, and holds the first end of the other one of the fibers to define coaxial partial reflectors (14, 18) at the second end (212e.sub.2) of the first fiber and the first end (16e) of the other one of the fibers. In one embodiment, the one of the fibers is the lead-in fiber.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1996Date of Patent: May 25, 1999Assignee: Lockheed Martin Corp.Inventors: Jeffrey Pratt Andrews, Robert Earl Pulfrey
