  • Patent number: 7409233
Abstract: A system and a method for location-based responses are provided. A mobile device receives location information from, for example, a global positioning system (GPS) to determine its present location. The location is checked against target range areas corresponding to target locations programmed in the mobile device. If the determined present location of the mobile device is within a particular target range area corresponding to a particular target location, the mobile device provides the particular target response that was programmed in the mobile device to correspond to the particular target range area and the particular target location.

  • Publication number: 20070234247
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for efficiently generating test components for testing and evaluating a design under test. As a design is being configured, generated test components are made available. In one example, test components are automatically generated and included in a simulation testbench based on selected components in the design. Generally, the test components complement the selected components in the design. Moreover, the test components can be automatically seeded with initial contents.

  • Publication number: 20060190907
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for implementing parameterizable processor cores and peripherals on a programmable chip. An input interface such as a wizard allows selection and parameterization of processor cores, peripherals, as well as other modules. The logic description for implementing the modules on a programmable chip can be dynamically generated, allowing extensive parameterization of various modules. Dynamic generation also allows the delivery of device driver logic onto a programmable chip. The logic description can include information for configuring a dynamically generated bus module to allow connectivity between the modules as well as connectivity with other on-chip and off-chip components. The logic description, possibly comprising HDL files, can then be automatically synthesized and provided to tools for downloading the logic description onto a programmable chip.

  • Patent number: 6725060
Abstract: A system and method for reducing power consumed by an integrated electronic device. The device includes a personal data assistant (PDA) unit and a wireless telephone integrated in a common housing. A common display on the housing is used for displaying messages from both the PDA and the wireless telephone to a user. A controller, coupled to the wireless telephone, places the wireless telephone in a power-off state after expiration of a predetermined period of time following cessation of voice traffic activity on the wireless telephone. The controller switches the wireless telephone from the power-off state to a power-on state if, during operation in the power-off state, a user begins an attempt to place an outgoing call with the wireless telephone. The wireless telephone is unable to receive an incoming call when the wireless telephone is in the power-off state.

  • Patent number: 6087808
Abstract: A system for providing an accurate indication of the remaining life of a battery. The system includes a first circuit that provides a control signal. A second circuit employs an internal resistance value of the battery and a battery voltage to provide the indication of remaining battery life in response to the control signal. In a specific embodiment, the second circuit includes a third circuit that measures the internal resistance of the battery in response to the control signal. The third circuit also includes a circuit for measuring an output current and an output voltage of the battery at varying battery loads. The circuit for measuring an output current includes an ammeter and a switching load. In a more specific embodiment, the switching load is implemented as a transmitter that is selectively activated via the control signal. A fourth circuit, included in the second circuit, provides the indication of remaining battery life in response to the internal resistance.

  • Patent number: 5063450
Abstract: A method and apparatus for eliminating aliasing in an electronic still camera without the use of a birefringent filter is disclosed. Instead of a birefringent filter, mechanical dithering is utilized to move the pixel elements of a solid-state imager in a controlled manner with respect to an incident image. The movement of the pixel elements by mechanical dithering spreads light from the incident image among neighboring pixels of the image sensor and therefore performs the same function as a birefringent filter to prevent aliasing in an electronic camera.

  • Patent number: 4887121
Abstract: A method and apparatus for exposure control in a camera is disclosed in which color balance information is used to select a weighted exposure measurement. A color balance signal is generated by measuring either light directly illuminating the camera or scene light passing through the lens system of the camera. The color balance signal is used to address a liquid crystal mask that selectively transmits a portion of the scene light to a group of photodetectors for a weighted exposure measurement.
