  • Patent number: 11858461
Abstract: A compact deployable/retractable running board assembly for a motor vehicle including a running board, linkage coupled to the running board, and a motor assembly coupled to an actuator, the running board moveable between at least one stowed position and at least one deployed position. The linkage includes a drive arm connected to a pivot shaft within a housing at a location on the pivot shaft between two bushings that are coupled to the pivot shaft within the housing. The linkage also includes an idler arm connected to a pivot shaft within an idler housing. The actuator is operably coupled to the linkage to cause rotation of the linkage to move the running board between the at least one stowed position generally under the motor vehicle and at least one deployed position to provide a step surface for a user.

  • Publication number: 20220306004
Abstract: A mounting system for a step of a vehicle. A step portion having a connecting flange. A load bearing adapter connected to the connecting flange via a lost motion connecting assembly for allowing substantially rigid connection when the step portion has a normal stepping load and allows tilting of the step when an obstacle is encountered which provides a load on the step in an upward direction. Wherein an upward force on the step portion allows upward movement of the step and returning it to the step position.

  • Publication number: 20220185190
Abstract: A box step (12) for allowing a user to access the rear bed or box of a vehicle such as a pickup truck. The pivotable box step includes a housing that is mounted to the underside of the vehicle. The box step moves between a stowed position (34) tucked underneath the vehicle, a rear position (40) at the rear of the vehicle, a corner position (38) at the rear corner of the vehicle and a side entry position (36) at the side of the vehicle, forward from the corner entry position. The motor (23) drives the drive assembly (20) in opposing first and second directions to move the box step between the stowed position, the rear position, the corner position and the box side entry position.

  • Publication number: 20120078833
Abstract: Business rules may be defined for camera placement in a video surveillance system, such as a system monitoring an airport. The business rules may be logical rules having an if-then format. For example, the if portion of the business rule may include a category, a surveillance area, and a business case for a proposed location. The then portion of the business rule may specify a recommendation to install an additional security camera in the video surveillance system at the proposed location. The recommendation may be calculated using a spreadsheet. The business rules provide justification for recommending a new camera placement and provide sound reasoning to assist in decision making when considering new camera locations in a video surveillance system.
