  • Patent number: 11679805
Abstract: Technical solutions are described for mitigating traction steer using an electric power steering system (EPS). A control system for a power steering system including a processor and memory are provided. The memory includes instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to generate a motor command as a function of a handwheel velocity, and to modify the motor command based upon a traction torque signal. A method for controlling a power steering system is also provided. The method includes generating a motor command as a function of a handwheel velocity; modifying the motor command based upon a traction torque signal; and applying the motor command to an actuator of the power steering system.

  • Publication number: 20140344306
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include information services, methods and systems to facilitate gathering and management of information by home users and professional users of information gathering, processing, and distribution services, and user interfaces through which users communicate with information services. In one embodiment of the present invention, a central information gathering, processing, and distribution service provides a simple, but robust and highly functional, interface to remote home users and professional users to allow the home users and professional users to continuously receive updated information gleaned from continuous searching of the Internet and other information sources by the information service. The interface allows users to define, refine, and stably store interests that define information searches continuously carried out, on behalf of the user, by the information gathering, processing, and distribution service.

  • Patent number: 6220039
Abstract: A method of controlling humidity within a space, where the space communicates with humidity control equipment. The method comprises determining a dew-point temperature within the space, and comparing the dew-point temperature to a predetermined desired dew-point temperature. The humidity control equipment is then controlled based upon the difference between the dew-point temperature and the predetermined desired dew-point temperature. The humidity control equipment can be a humidifier, and the dew-point temperature can be determined by sensing the temperature and humidity within the space, or by sensing the temperature and humidity within a duct, such as a return air duct.

  • Patent number: 6101824
Abstract: A thermostat for use with multistage Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) plants where a proportional/integral control loop is present for each stage of the multistage HVAC plant. Filter constants, Ki and Kp as well as stage control points and interstage values can be set independently for each stage.

  • Patent number: 5950709
Abstract: A thermostat which is configurable to be used with conventional fossil fuel furnaces, electric furnaces, heat pumps and other air conditioning equipment and fans. A setup program is included which requires an installer to enter data specific to the type of HVAC plant installed in the building with the thermostat.

  • Patent number: 5887651
Abstract: A space comfort system controls humidity in a space by applying heat to air recirculated to the space when the humidity is excessive and cooling of the air is not required. In a preferred embodiment, the call for heat occurs from the time the humidity increases to a level above a differential band within which is the humidity set point until humidity falls to below the differential band. Heat is applied to the air only when there is no demand for cooling of the air.

  • Patent number: 5765636
Abstract: A method and system for improving indoor air quality by controlling the circulation of air by a system fan of a conventional environmental control system in order to achieve a minimum circulation cycle. The method and system prevent nuisance short cycling of the system fan by extending the circulation cycle when the method and system predict the system fan will be activated by the environmental control system for heating or cooling shortly after the termination of the controlled circulation.

  • Patent number: 5651498
Abstract: A space heating system with a controllable air humidification capability calculates a theoretical value for the temperature of the interior surface of the space's windows. The system controls humidity in the space to a level just below that at which water will condense on the window surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5270952
Abstract: A recovery algorithm for a setback thermostat uses the intersection of the space temperature with a sloped recovery temperature line which approximates the change in temperature as a function of time during recovery of the temperature controlled space from a setback temperature, to determine the time at which recovery to the occupancy temperature should begin. The thermostat starts recovery when the current space temperature crosses the recovery temperature line. A useful feature of the apparatus and method which implement the invention, computes and constantly updates the slope of the recovery temperature line. The update of the recovery temperature line slope is based on miss time, i.e., the time between actually achieving the desired next set point temperature and the next set point time associated with the next set point temperature.
