  • Patent number: 10086680
Abstract: A sunroof drainage conduit integrated into a heating, ventilation and air conditioning duct (HVAC) duct for a vehicle is provided. The duct may include an elongated, hollow body defining an air passage. The drainage conduit may be integrally formed on a surface of the body of the duct, such as an inside surface or an outside surface. The integrated drainage conduit may be routed through the duct's air passage or around the duct's exterior. A first drain tube may connect the sunroof to an inlet of the drainage conduit for directing drainage away from the sunroof's gutter or trough. A second drain tube may connect to an outlet of the drainage conduit for directing drainage from the drainage conduit to ambient.

  • Publication number: 20110008057
Abstract: In a fixed delay optical communication system, rate adjustable differential phase shift key (DPSK) techniques eliminate the need for multiple comparing modules, each corresponding to a different data rate. Setting alternative data rates at integer multiples of the fundamental data rate of the optical communication system allows the system to process the respective integer number of symbols per period of the system, wherein the period of the system is the inverse of the fundamental data rate. Pulse carving techniques may be used to set the duty cycle of clock levels associated with a clock signal. The clock levels may be combined with respective symbols to provide optical symbols having a duty cycle less than 100%.

  • Patent number: 5838589
Abstract: An intrinsically safe data acquisition system is disclosed for use in hazardous locations. The system includes a driller's console that itself is intrinsically safe and includes a large LCD monitor, keypad and local CPU. The system further includes satellite data acquisition and processing boxes that are also intrinsically safe and that are located within the hazardous area. Each satellite box includes its own CPU and acquires and locally processes signals received from a number of field sensors. The satellite box converts the signals into digital form, and transmits the data via a fiber optic communication channel to a master CPU box located in an unclassified area. A high current intrinsically safe barrier distributes power from the master CPU box to the satellite box for powering all the sensors supported by that satellite box. Another such barrier distributes all the power required by the driller's console.

  • Patent number: 4090083
Abstract: A scintillation type neutron detector is provided herein for the measurement of neutrons with optimum neutron sensitivity and minimum gamma sensitivity. A large diameter nuclear radiation insensitive photomultiplier tube is optically connected to a scintillating medium which is responsive to thermalized neutrons. The neutrons available for detection are thermalized by a neutron moderating material adjacent to the scintillator medium. Enclosing and shielding the photomultiplier, the scintillator medium, and the moderator is a combined lead and borated silicone resin housing.
