  • Publication number: 20240082545
Abstract: Some embodiments of a medical device anchor system include an anchor device that receives a medical instrument (such as a catheter or the like) and secures the instrument in place relative to a skin penetration point. In some circumstances, the anchor device may allow the anchor device to be used after medical instrument is already in place without the need for a second penetration point for the anchor device.

  • Publication number: 20140040040
Abstract: A system for distributing messages to consumers. A consumer may opt-in to receive messages by sending a text message with a keyword to an aggregator. The aggregator is a message distributor and the opt-in message opts in for a particular advertiser and other advertisers. The advertiser may send messages to the consumer and other consumers who specifically opt in for the advertiser. Other advertisers may send messages to the consumer if sufficiently nearby or related to the advertiser, or if sharing a consumer cloud of the advertiser. The advertisers may manage all messages using a mobile or other interface. Messages are sent for a fee. A portion of the fee is remitted to charitable organizations identified for such purpose by recipient consumers receiving the messages. Messages sent by advertisers may include text messages, emails or instant messages.

  • Patent number: 8596986
Abstract: A compressor component having an airfoil with a profile in accordance with Table 1 is disclosed. The compressor component, such as a compressor blade, has an increased thickness over a portion of the airfoil span in order to increase stiffness. Furthermore, the airfoil has been restacked so as to induce a compressive stress in the blade root/attachment area. The increased stiffness and restacked airfoil combine to improve high-cycle fatigue capability of the compressor component.

  • Patent number: 7467046
Abstract: Protein geranylgeranyl transferase type I (GGTase-I), a Ca1a2X prenyltransferase, is an essential enzyme in eukaryotes. GGTase-I catalyzes the carboxyl-terminal lipidation of over one hundred proteins, including many GTP-binding regulatory proteins (G proteins). The presently disclosed subject matter comprises a plurality of crystal structures of mammalian GGTase-I in complex with substrates and products that provide the first structural information for this enzyme, facilitating the elucidation of a generalized method of action for all protein prenyltransferases; the method includes a role in product transport. The structures reveal specificity determinants that allow classification of putative protein prenyltransferase sequences and can facilitate optimization of GGTase-I and FTase modulators.

  • Patent number: 6769878
Abstract: A turbine blade including an airfoil having a profile in accordance with Table 1 is disclosed. The turbine blade has a plurality of cooling passages extending radially outward through the airfoil. The aerodynamic profile of the airfoil has been reconfigured to further reduce overall heat load to the airfoil while paying particular attention to the leading edge region. Specifically, the airfoil leading edge, which is the life-limiting location of the turbine blade has been reconfigured to lower heat load and allow for increased cooling, thereby increasing turbine blade life.

  • Patent number: 5868398
Abstract: A seal for stator vane segments within a gas turbine engine is provided which includes an axial member and an end member. The axial member includes a central portion and at least one axial joint element extending out from the central portion. The central portion has across-section which includes a pair of substantially u-shaped circumferential ends connected by an arcuate midsection. The axial joint element transitions from the arcuate midsection to a substantially flat end. The end member includes an end joint element attached to a radial portion. The axial and end joint elements contact each other to prevent leakage therebetween, and also sidably cooperate with each other to accommodate misalignment between the axial member and the end member.
