  • Publication number: 20070275768
Abstract: The present application provides a system for proximity awareness for mobile data communication on an electronic communication device comprising a client application on an electronic communication device communicating across a wireless network, and an awareness server that includes a plurality of server objects that monitor multiple devices on a wireless communication network. In addition, the client application on the electronic communication device comprises a plurality of software objects. The client application periodically broadcasts the current wireless tower that the device is communicating on to the awareness server. The awareness server tracks the location of other Tower IDs of other users in the individual's contact list. If there is a match in Tower IDs, an alert is sent to both users that they are in proximity to each other.

  • Publication number: 20070121909
Abstract: A communication device recognizes a first string of characters as a telephone number and a second string of characters as additional information related to the telephone number. A menu is then displayed having a menu item including the telephone number and the additional information. When the user has selected the menu item, the telephone number and the additional information are provided to a telephone application of the communication device.

  • Publication number: 20070037592
Abstract: A method includes receiving a text message and identifying address card information within the message. A reduced version of the message is displayed by replacing the address card information of the message with an address card indicia. The receiving, identifying and displaying steps are performed by an electronic communication device.

  • Publication number: 20050273695
Abstract: A representation of a spreadsheet is displayed on a mobile communication device after receiving a description of a spreadsheet. The description relates to a plurality of map cells, where each map cell corresponds to a cell block, and the description includes location information and primary data type information for each map cell. Based on the location and content-type information in the description, a pictorial representation of the spreadsheet may be generated and displayed to a user of the mobile communication device. A mobile device server may not only generate the description, but also may interpret the user's selection of a region of interest and transmit enough information about the region of interest for the mobile communication device to present the region of interest to the user in a conventional viewer.

  • Publication number: 20050096093
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for reducing the size of an electronic message on a mobile communication device. The mobile communication device may identify address card information in a received electronic message. The mobile communication device may then automatically display a reduced version of the electronic message on the mobile communication device, wherein the address card information is represented by an address card indicia.
