  • Publication number: 20060282793
Abstract: Input sources to a display, such as a television, are depicted with a first indicator if active, such as active with a signal having visual information, and are depicted with a second indicator if inactive, such as lacking an active signal. A selection module allows a user of the display to select an active source but precludes selection of an inactive source. For instance, a user is allowed to select highlighted input sources that are active but not allowed to select grayed out input sources that are inactive. An override allows the user to present all input sources with the first indicator, whether or not the input sources are active.

  • Publication number: 20060197870
Abstract: Systems and methods for presenting high definition display signals in secondary windows of a display are disclosed. In one embodiment, the aspect ratio of a high definition content secondary window is adjustable. The high definition content secondary window may be a PIP, POP, PBP or other window. Furthermore, the image within the high definition content secondary window may be scaled in a wide variety of manners such that the image shape within the window may also be adjustable. Thus, in one embodiment both the window shape and the image shape within the window may be adjustable. Furthermore, the input format of the content presented to the display may be one of a wide variety of formats. In a further embodiment, the secondary window shape and image shape may be adjustable for a plurality of different input formats.

  • Patent number: 6748874
Abstract: A shelf for attachment to the bedposts of wooden or metal bunk beds, although it may also be attached to the headboards of these type beds. The shelf is best molded of a plastic such as ABS, including an integrally molded perpendicular mounting angle frame for attachment to a clamping device also of plastic. The shelf surface may have a hole, groove or depression for supporting a cup, beverage can, writing instrument or such. Adequate space on the surface is provided to support a small radio, clock or book of minimal weight. The shelf attachment device includes plastic clamps located within channels of the mounting angle frame. Bolts with locking knobs allow tightening of the clamps in position against the bedpost.

  • Publication number: 20040083931
Abstract: A small shelf primarily for attachment to the bedposts of wooden or metal bunk beds, although it may also be attached to the headboards of these type beds. The shelf is best molded of a plastic such as ABS, having integrally molded therewith at one end thereof a perpendicular mounting angle frame for attachment to a clamping device also of plastic. The surface of the shelf has a hole or depression therein for supporting a cup, beverage can or the like; and a groove therein for holding a writing instrument for example for inhibiting the occasional disruption inherent in this type of bed. Adequate space on the surface is provided to support a small radio, clock or book when the total weight thereon is no more than 5 or 6 pounds. The invention comprises plastic clamps slidably positioned into channels of the mounting angle frame.

  • Patent number: 6116511
Abstract: A method of initializing an in-car temperature sensor for a climate control system on a vehicle includes the steps of determining if a predetermined condition for initializing the in-car temperature sensor is satisfied and using an actual in-car temperature sensor output if the predetermined condition for initializing the in-car temperature sensor is not satisfied, and initializing the in-car temperature sensor output with an ignition-off in-car temperature sensor value if the predetermined condition for initializing the in-car temperature sensor is satisfied. The method also includes the steps of determining if a predetermined condition indicating not to use the initialized in-car temperature sensor output is satisfied and using an actual in-car temperature sensor output if the predetermined condition.

  • Patent number: 6014662
Abstract: A user interface is provided that performs much of the work in searching and organizing of search data. It defines search terms and sources ahead of time for subjects that have wide usage, or are suggested by the user. It then organizes collections of search documents pertaining to a selected subject into a book divided into sections according to topics about the subject. Each section of the book is represented by a tab on the book that can be used to select between the various topics in the book. The books can be used to organize information from numerous sources about any number of subjects including companies, products, industries, geographies and people. Standard books can be personalized to fit the users need. For example, the content and organization of a book on a company can be changed depending on whether the user of the book owns the company's stock, competes with the company, or sells products to it.

  • Patent number: 5941691
Abstract: A pressure powered pump has valve members 18, 20 operated by a float acting through an overcenter mechanism 24. The overcenter mechanism has a valve actuating lever 36, on which are provided actuating pins 46, 48 for engagement with the respective valve members 18, 20. When the valves are closed, there is a substantial clearance a between the actuating pins 46, 48 and the respective valve member or its stem 50. This causes the actuating pin 46, 48 to apply an impact to the-valve member 18, 20, so assisting its opening movement. Stops 58, 60 are provided to arrest the valve actuating member 36 at its stable end position, so avoiding high impacts being applied to the valve members 18, 20 when they close.
