  • Patent number: 8960091
Abstract: An initiator assembly can include an outer body can have a first end, a second end, and an internal passage between the first and second ends. An initiator canister can be joined to the outer body at the first end and can define a charge chamber that includes a pair of pins extending therefrom. An insulative material can be molded within the passage to form an insulative structural member that joins the canister and pins to the outer body and insulates the pins and a portion of the canister from electrical contact with the outer body. An electrostatic discharge dissipater can be formed from an electrically conductive material and can be molded to the outer body. The dissipater can provide a controlled dissipation path for electrostatic discharge energy carried by the initiator assembly.

  • Patent number: 8340857
Abstract: Remote sensor units for a vehicle are described. A remote sensor unit may comprise an electronic assembly. The electronic assembly may comprise an electronic component. The electronic assembly may comprise one or more signal terminals coupled to the electronic component. The electronic assembly may comprise a protective enclosure arranged to encapsulate the electronic component. The protective enclosure is arranged to isolate the electronic component from thermal energy, pressure or residual material stress associated with one or more satellite housings. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 5462448
Abstract: An initiator of an airbag assembly is coupled to an electrical connector that is connected to sensor circuitry of a vehicle containing the airbag assembly. A locking relationship is provided between the electrical connector and the initiator base having a pair of legs extending therefrom and having a plurality of male electrical terminals being positioned between the legs. Each of the legs has a radially inward protruding element having two tapered surfaces forming a ramp on each of the legs. The electrical connector has a plurality of female electrical terminals housed therein which mate with the male electrical terminals extending from the initiator base. The electrical connector also has radially inwardly extending notches positioned in the electrical connector, which notches are adapted to mesh essentially complementarily with and engage the protruding elements on the legs of the initiator base for locking the connector on the initiator base.
