Abstract: An antenna for wideband operation comprises a planar loop element having a total-length-to-width ratio below about 50:1. In one embodiment, a plurality of planar loop elements are arranged in a Yagi array having a single active element. The dimensions of the elements are chosen to achieve substantially resistive impedance over greater than a thirty percent bandwidth and a minimum gain of 6.5 dB over isotropic response.
