  • Patent number: 9068324
Abstract: A bulldozer includes a folding blade that includes a base blade having opposed ends. A first blade portion is rotatably movable about an axis near one end of the base blade. A second blade portion is rotatably movable about an axis near an end of the base blade opposite the first blade portion. The first blade portion and the second blade portion are rotatably movable relative to the base blade between extended and retracted positions. Each blade portion includes a selectably removable first pin and a selectably removable second pin. When installed, the first pin secures each of the first blade portion and the second blade portion in the extended position and the retracted position relative to the base blade, and when installed, the second pin secures each of the first blade portion and the second blade portion in the extended position relative to the base blade.

  • Publication number: 20070140792
Abstract: A soft landing control system for a screeding device is operable to automatically lower a vibrating member relative to a grade setting device after the grade setting device is lowered to the desired grade. The control may be operable to delay lowering the vibrating member relative to the grade setting device at least until the control receives an input indicative of at least a portion of the screed head assembly being moved to a position generally over a newly placed concrete area. Optionally, the control may delay lowering of the vibrating member relative to the grade setting device until a period of time has elapsed after an activating event. Optionally, the control may automatically stop vibration of the vibrating member when the screed head assembly is not moving in the screeding direction and may automatically vibrate the vibrating member when the screed head assembly moves in the screeding direction.

  • Publication number: 20070116520
Abstract: A vibrating device for a screed head assembly mountable to a screeding device includes a vibrating member and a vibrating system. The vibrating member comprises an integrally formed elongated member having upper and lower screeding surfaces and a vertical portion extending therebetween. The vertical portion may define a hollow cavity therealong. The vibrating system is operable to vibrate the vibrating member to compact and smooth the concrete surface. The vibrating system is mounted to the vertical portion of the vibrating member and operates to vibrate the vibrating member to screed the concrete surface when the lower screeding surface engages the concrete surface. The vibrating system may include a drive motor operable to rotatably drive at least one drive pulley which, in turn, drives a drive belt to rotate at least one eccentric element rotatably mounted to the vibrating member.

  • Publication number: 20060216114
Abstract: A soft landing control system for a screeding device is operable to automatically lower a vibrating member of a screed head assembly into engagement with a concrete surface at a time and place where the vibrating member is not positioned over an overlap area of already screeded concrete. The vibrating member is automatically lowered onto newly placed concrete at or near the junction or cold-joint between the already screeded concrete and the area of newly placed concrete, so as to avoid depressions in the already placed concrete. Optionally, the soft landing control system may include a timing device and may lower the vibrating member after a period of time following an activating event. Optionally, the control system may detect when the vibrating device is positioned at or near the newly placed concrete and may lower the vibrating member in response to such detection.

  • Publication number: 20060008323
Abstract: A subgrade preparation apparatus for preparing a subgrade surface for concrete to be placed thereon includes a base unit positionable on a support surface adjacent to a targeted subgrade area, an extendable boom extending from the base unit, and a subgrade head assembly adjustably mounted on the extendable boom. The subgrade head assembly includes a framework, a plow and a material moving device for moving material toward at least one side of the subgrade head assembly. The subgrade head assembly includes a plow end plate movably attached at an outer end of the plow and movable to a position where the plow end plate is generally vertical and forms an end portion of the plow to limit plowed material from flowing around the outer end of the plow as the subgrade head assembly is moved over and along the subgrade surface at the targeted subgrade area.
