  • Patent number: 8683771
Abstract: A method of assembling an adjustable frame assembly for supporting a fenestration article includes the steps of sliding sections of each rail member along adjustment splices to adjust a width of the adjustable frame assembly and/or sliding sections of stile members along adjustment splices to adjust a height of the adjustable frame assembly. The fenestration article is disposed along a wall and at least partially within a groove of the rail member and stile member. A plurality of rail clips are inserted into the groove of each rail member to secure the fenestration article to each rail member. A plurality of stile clips are inserted into the groove of each stile member to secure the fenestration article to each stile member. The rail clips are disposed adjacent the stile clips to prevent adjustment of the width and/or height of the adjustable frame assembly resulting from compression forces.

  • Patent number: 8528212
Abstract: A method manufactures a frame assembly, which supports a fenestration article. The frame assembly includes a stile member having a stile tab. The frame assembly also includes a rail member coupled substantially transverse to the stile member. The rail member has a rail tab. The method comprises the step of inserting a portion of the stile member into an interior of the rail member such that the stile tab extends beyond the rail member. The method also comprises the step of inserting a portion the rail member into an interior of the stile member such that the rail tab extends beyond the stile member. The method further comprises the steps of bending the stile tab about the rail member to couple the stile member to the rail member and bending the rail tab about the stile member to couple the rail member to the stile member.

  • Patent number: 8322076
Abstract: An adjustable glide apparatus is for a sliding panel to slide along a track between open and closed positions. The adjustable glide apparatus comprises a housing defining a cavity with at least one receiver disposed within the cavity. An adjustment stem has an end that has a thread and is disposed within the cavity. A cam is coupled to the receiver for moving the receiver relative to the housing. The cam comprises a plurality of teeth for engaging the thread to rotate the cam as the adjustment stem is rotated thereby moving the receiver relative. A glide is coupled to the receiver and comprises a contact surface. The contact surface is adapted for sliding engagement with the track to slide the sliding panel between the open and the closed positions. A distance between the contact surface and the housing is adjusted as the receiver is moved by the cam.

  • Patent number: 7861761
Abstract: The present invention is a retractable screen (22) and frame (24) assembly (20). The frame (24) includes a first track (32) and a second track (34) in spaced and parallel relationship to the first track (32). The retractable screen (22) includes a canister (36), a screen cloth (38), a control bar (40), a first glide (42), a second glide (44), and a biasing device (46). The biasing device (46) is disposed between a first end (52) of the control bar (40) and the first glide (42). The first glide (42) is inserted into the first track (32) and the second glide (44) is inserted into the second track (34). The glides (42, 44) slide along the respective tracks (32, 34) while the biasing device (46) biases the first end (52) of the control bar (40) with respect to the first track (32). The biasing provided by the biasing device (46) prevents the control bar (40) from binding with the tracks (32, 34) as the control bar (40) and the glides (42, 44) are slid along the tracks (32, 34).

  • Publication number: 20080210385
Abstract: A retractable screen assembly includes a canister and a pair of tracks spaced from each other and extending in a direction transverse to the canister. A slide component is slideably engaged with the pair of tracks and is moveable toward and away from the canister along the tracks. The screen is coupled with the canister and with the slide component. The screen is selectively retractable to and dispensable from the canister as the slide component moves toward and away from the canister. A biasing device is coupled to the screen for urging the screen toward the canister to retract the screen to the canister as the slide component moves toward the canister. A shock absorber is disposed between the slide component and the canister for counteracting the biasing device to dampen relative movement between the slide component and the canister as the slide component moves toward the canister.
