Publication number: 20250253299Abstract: A light emitting diode (LED) display and method of forming the display are disclosed. The display includes microLED pixels disposed on the backplane interspersed with photodetector pixels. Each photodetector pixel contains a metasurface that uses a grating to accept a narrow angular range of light, insulating spacers, and a conductive waveguide layer disposed between the insulating spacers. The insulating spacers have a refractive index to permit coupling to the waveguide layer, which supports surface plasmons and acts as a waveguide for in-plane light. The insulating spacers or another layer is formed from a material whose refractive index changes with at least one of an applied electrical or thermal stimulus to control a direction of a center angle of the narrow angular range.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 1, 2024Publication date: August 7, 2025Inventor: Jeffrey Vincent DiMaria

Patent number: 12364082Abstract: A light-emitting diode (LED) die can include a p-n junction between a p-doped semiconductor material and an n-doped semiconductor material. The LED die can include vias that can electrically power the p-n junction. The vias can optionally be electrically connected in parallel to one another. A controller can supply current to the vias to electrically power the LED die. The vias can be distributed with a density that peaks at or near a center of the LED die and decreases with increasing distances away from the peak of the density, such that when the vias are electrically powered, the LED die emits light with a surface luminance that peaks at or near the center of the LED die and decreases with increasing distances away from the peak of the surface luminance.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2022Date of Patent: July 15, 2025Assignee: Lumileds LLCInventors: Yu-Chen Shen, Jeffrey Vincent DiMaria, Florent Gregoire Monestier, Antonio Lopez Julia

Patent number: 12296198Abstract: An image calibration method includes capturing and correcting a flood field image for background signal and effects of known image-panel features (dead/bad pixels). The corrected image is processed to separate frequencies characteristic of relative pixel sensitivities from frequencies characteristic of radiation energy fluence. The incident energy fluence has a known maximum in-field energy fluence gradient. A model that describes the incident energy fluence on a detector is generated or received. The corrected image may be modeled at frequencies at or below the maximum in-field energy fluence gradient. A pixel sensitivity matrix (PSM) is generated by adjusting the corrected image with the model of the incident energy fluence on the detector. For example, the corrected image signal may be divided by the model or the model may be subtracted from the corrected image. The PSM may be used to correct additional raw images captured by the detector.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2023Date of Patent: May 13, 2025Assignee: UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA PATENT FOUNDATIONInventors: Jeffrey Vincent Siebers, Mahmoud Ahmed

Patent number: 12259067Abstract: A pipe fitting having a first body and a second body that together at least partially define a fluid flow passage. The first body defines a first portion of the fluid flow passage that extends from a first end of the fluid flow passage to a first internal opening. The second body defines a second portion of the fluid flow passage that extends from a second internal opening to a second end of the fluid flow passage. The first body has a first interface surface that surrounds the first internal opening, the first interface surface having a plurality of anti-rotation grooves. The second body has a second interface surface that surrounds the second internal opening and engages with the first interface surface. The first internal opening is in fluid communication with the second internal opening. The second interface surface has a plurality of anti-rotation fingers that are each received by and engage with a corresponding one of the anti-rotation grooves.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2022Date of Patent: March 25, 2025Assignee: IPEX TECHNOLOGIES INC.Inventors: Jeffrey Vincent Littlefield, Qing Li, Filippo Martino

Patent number: 12234931Abstract: A coupling and anchoring system for coupling lengths of pipe and anchoring the lengths of pipe to a structure comprise a pipe coupling having an external peripheral groove defined by axially facing axial clamp engaging surfaces, said groove receiving an anchoring clamp. The anchoring clamp has corresponding axial coupling engaging surfaces for engaging the axial clamp engaging surfaces of the pipe coupling to restrict axial movement of the pipe coupling when the anchoring clamp is fastened to the structure. The anchoring clamp is formed from arced bands having laterally extending connecting portions and laterally extending arced elements. The laterally extending connecting surfaces and arcs combine to form dual fastener openings for optionally receiving fastening elements perpendicular and parallel to the longitudinal axis of the pipe coupling for optionally anchoring the system to perpendicular and parallel portions of the structure.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2023Date of Patent: February 25, 2025Inventor: Jeffrey Vincent Littlefield
