  • Patent number: 6117397
Abstract: The invention provides systems, devices and methods for synthesizing various chemicals onto solid supports, cleaving the synthesized compounds and preparing samples for analysis. In one exemplary embodiment, the invention provides a device comprising a housing which defines an enclosure. A plate having a plurality of wells is received into the enclosure. Each of the wells has a bottom end and at least some of the wells have a hole in the bottom end. A pressure source is in fluid communication with the holes in the bottom ends of the wells. In this manner, a fluid may be maintained within the wells by application of pressure from the pressure source.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 29, 1997
Date of Patent: September 12, 2000
    Assignee: Glaxo Group Limited
Inventors: Valery V. Antonenko, Nicolay V. Kulikov, Jeffrey W. Jacobs

  • Patent number: 5962291
Abstract: The present invention relates to catalytic antibodies and a method for producing the same wherein a host is immunized using an "antigen chelate" or more specifically a stable compound capable of chelating metal ions. The immune response mounted in response to the antigen chelate produces antibodies that are capable of binding both a substrate and a metal ion, thus achieving a metal cofactor assisted reaction.

Date of Patent: October 5, 1999
Assignee: The Regents of the University of Colorado
Inventors: Darla A. Graff, Marvin H. Caruthers, Jeffrey W. Jacobs
  • Patent number: 5919523
Abstract: Methods and derivatized supports which are useful in solid-phase synthesis of peptides, oligonucleotides or other small organic molecules as well as arrays of ligands. The methods provide means to control the functional site density on a solid support. Some of the derivatized supports are polymer-coated or glycan-coated. Other methods for regenerating the surface of a used ligand array are also provided.

  • Patent number: 5359115
Abstract: Phosphonate esters can be synthesized in high yields by condensations of alcohols with methyl phosphonates followed by selective demethylation. The reaction is general, relatively insensitive to steric constraints of hindered phosphonic acids, and can also be carried out on a solid support to synthesize large collections of compounds to screen for pharmacological activity.
