Publication number: 20240104565Abstract: A system and method for processing a bound payment method is disclosed. A customer can create a virtual card number for use solely at a specific retailer. In this scenario, when the payment method is used for a financial transaction, it becomes necessary to verify that the financial transaction is being carried out with the bound merchant. In embodiments, the virtual card number (VCN) information is received and analyzed to identify the exchange entity and a bound entity associated with the VCN. If it is determined that the merchant associated with the transaction does not match the bound merchant associated with the VCN, then the customer is notified of the discrepancy and provided an opportunity to confirm the dispute the denial.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 22, 2022Publication date: March 28, 2024Applicant: Capital One Services, LLCInventors: Pavel FORT, Lawrence DOUGLAS, Jeffrey WIEKER

Publication number: 20240086517Abstract: Aspects described herein may provide detection of a physical characteristic of a credential, thereby allowing for authentication of the credential. According to some aspects, these and other benefits may be achieved by detecting the physical characteristic with the credential. An image of a credential may be received. An optical characteristic of a secure feature of the credential may be determined. An expected optical characteristic of the secure feature may be determined based on known properties of the secure feature. A determination as to whether the credential is authentic may be based on a comparison of the determined optical characteristic of the secure feature to the expected optical characteristic of the secure feature.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 16, 2023Publication date: March 14, 2024Inventors: Clayton Johnson, Daniel Tesser, Luis De La Rosa, Jeffrey Wieker
