  • Patent number: 10365134
Abstract: A vortex flowmeter includes a flow tube having a first end and a second end. A shedder bar is disposed within the flow tube between the first end and the second end. The shedder bar is configured to generate vortices in fluid flowing through the flow tube. At least one sensor is operably coupled to an external surface of the flow tube and is configured to detect individual deformations of the flow tube resulting from vortices inside the flow tube.

  • Publication number: 20050229715
Abstract: A vortex flow meter for measuring fluid flow has a conduit for carrying a fluid. A region of reduced thickness is formed in a portion of the conduit. A shedding bar disposed in the conduit is coupled to the region of reduced thickness and is configured to apply a rocking motion to the region of reduced thickness about a pivot line in response to flow of the fluid. At least one reinforcing rib on the reduced thickness portion preferably extends parallel to flow of fluid.

  • Publication number: 20050217389
Abstract: An insertion vortex flow meter for measuring a flow rate of a process fluid in a pipe has a mounting assembly, a shedding bar and a sensor assembly. The mounting assembly is attached to a surface of the pipe adjacent an opening in a side wall of the pipe. The shedding bar is inserted through the opening and extends an entire diameter of the pipe. The shedding bar is held in place by a compression force exerted by the sensor assembly on a proximal end of the shedding bar, such that the shedding bar is held by the compressive force between the sensor assembly and an opposing side wall of the pipe. The sensor assembly is adapted to measure motion of a pivoting element corresponding to vortices in the process fluid caused by the shedding bar. The sensor assembly adapted to produce an output indicative of the volumetric flow rate based on the frequency of the measured motion.

  • Publication number: 20050210998
Abstract: A process fluid measurement system provides a first measurement relative to process fluid flowing in a pipe. An additional measurement of process fluid flow velocity in the pipe is combined with the first measurement to provide a simplified indication of mass fluid flow and/or density or other fluid parameter. In some embodiments, the first measurement is a differential pressure measurement. Additionally, one embodiment provides a vortex flowmeter having configurable terminations for coupling to a variety of pressure or differential pressure sensors or transmitters for advanced process fluid measurements or calculations.
