Abstract: A Baseline DVB-CPCM is presented in this proposal to provide a secure and interoperable content delivery and transferring apparatus. The proposed Baseline DVB-CPCM is a unit to be implemented in a compliant CPCM device, and it consists of five major modules to be used for end-to end solution and content transferring between devices. These modules are CPCM Manager, Tools Box, Rights Management Module, Message Router, and CAS-CPCM Converter.

Abstract: In almost every Karaoke song, there are intervals where the singing is paused and only music is played for some time before the singing continues. The non-singing sections tend to be more substantial at the beginnings and ends of Karaoke songs. During these non-singing intervals, additional information may be displayed onto the Karaoke text region, independent of the background video content. Textual and interactive contents for display outside the Karaoke text region can also be inserted anywhere throughout the Karaoke song. This provides additional advertising space as well as the opportunity to develop interactive digital TV Karaoke. The textual and interactive contents that are inserted for display are encoded as data for more effective transmission, compared with putting them into the video stream. In addition, this invention introduces an option for the content creator to insert relevant textual and interactive contents prior to distribution to media distribution companies or broadcasters.

Abstract: An MPEG audio stream is transmitted together with an MPEG video stream. The audio stream contains an audio signal together with associated audio description data as ancillary data. The video stream contains a video signal together with video description data (e.g. video clips, stills, graphics, text etc) as private data, the video description data not necessarily having anything to do with the video data with which it is transmitted. At reception, the audio and video streams are decoded. The video description data is stored in a memory. The audio signal is played. The audio description data is used to select appropriate video description data for the particular audio signal from the memory or other storage, or from the current incoming video description data. This is then displayed as the audio signal is played.
