  • Patent number: 6478591
Abstract: An electrical card connector (5) includes a shell (1), an insulative body (2) covered by the shell, a plurality of terminals (3) received in the body, and a card ejection mechanism (4) mounted in the body. The card ejection mechanism includes a slide block (40), an elastic element (42), a push bar (44), and an elastic piece (46). When an electrical card (6) is inserted into the connector, the slide block is pushed inwardly until it is engaged by the elastic piece. The card is thus securely retained in the connector, with the elastic element being compressed. To eject the card, the push bar is manually pushed inwardly. The push bar gradually forces the elastic piece away from the slide block. The elastic element decompresses, pushing the slide block back out.

  • Patent number: 6425775
Abstract: A smart card connector for receiving a smart card comprises a spring switch to detect full insertion of the smart card. The spring switch includes a first spring contact and a second spring contact. The first spring contact comprises a body portion, a resilient contact portion and a fixing portion. The second spring contact comprises a body plate and a fixing portion. When a smart card is inserted the connector, the resilient contact portion of the first spring contact is deflected rearward to contact the second spring contact. Thus, force exerted on the contact portion of the first spring contact is transmitted to the fixing portion of the first spring contact with small deformation.

  • Patent number: 6390833
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly (100) including a female connector (10) and a male connector (20). The female connector includes a housing (11), a plurality of female terminals (14), a pair of female auxiliary terminals (15), a shield (13), and a pair of metallic grounding pads (17). Each grounding pad provides a contacting portion (174) exposed from opposite ends of the housing for electrically engaging with a shield (23) of the male connector. Furthermore, the female terminals are positioned on side walls (123) of the housing while the female auxiliary terminals are located on an inner side (1250) perpendicular to the side walls. The male connector accordingly provides a plurality of male terminals (24) positioned on a pair of male tongues (221) thereof for engaging with the female terminals and a pair of male auxiliary terminals (25) located on a bridge wall (223) perpendicularly interconnecting the male tongues for engaging with the female auxiliary terminals.

  • Patent number: 6382994
Abstract: An electrical connector (1) for soldering to a printed circuit board (PCB) comprises a U-shaped shell (10), a first insulating body (20) and a second insulating body (40) both assembled to the shell. A plurality of terminals (30) are insert-molded with the first insulating body. The shell comprises a base (10a), a first wing (11) and a second wing (12) both extending from the base. The first insulating body is secured on the base and the second insulating body is secured to the second wing of the shell. The wings include side walls (14, 16) and bottom walls (13, 15). These walls of the shell and a surface of the PCB define a receiving space for insertion of an electrical connector, thereby decreasing the total height of the connector.
