  • Publication number: 20050013115
Abstract: A shielding cage assembly (10) for shielding a plurality of transceiver modules therein includes a conductive hanger (1), a conductive upper and a lower shielding cages (21, 22), and a spacer (3). A plurality of dividing walls (23, 25) inside the upper and lower shielding cages cooperatively define a plurality of channels for receiving the transceiver modules therein. The spacer is sandwiched between the stacked upper and lower shielding cages. The hanger encloses the shielding cages and the spacer therein and is fixed to a printed circuit board (4).

  • Patent number: 6786653
Abstract: A transceiver module (1) having a release mechanism includes a connector assembly (3), a driving device (43), and a pull tab (45). The connector assembly includes a tab (362) for being received in a hole (242) of a bendable portion (240) of a receptacle (2), which receptacle receives the transceiver module therein. The driving device includes, a release member (42) and a wedge member (46). Both the pull tab and the wedge member are mechanically linked to the release member. When the pull tab is pulled outwardly, the release member rotates with respect to the connector assembly, driving the wedge member to press against the bendable portion of the receptacle, thus disengaging the tab from the hole. The transceiver module is then easily withdrawn from the receptacle. This arrangement allows the transceiver modules to be closely stacked together while still being readily accessible. This advantage decreases a stacking height of multiple transceiver modules.

  • Patent number: 6511345
Abstract: A guide rail assembly (1) having two guide rails (10, 30) stacked one above the other and mountable onto one printed circuit board (PCB) (2) is designed for receiving two optoelectronic modules. A mounting device (20) fixes the guide rails in fixed relation to one another and onto the PCB. The guide rails are identical to one another and each includes a frame (11) for receiving an optoelectronic module and a metallic cover (12) for providing EMI shielding to the optoelectronic module. The mounting device includes four posts (21) which fix the lower guide rail to the PCB and elevate the upper guide rail above the lower guide rail. Fastener members (22) fix the upper guide rail securely to the posts.

  • Patent number: 6508670
Abstract: An SFP transceiver cage includes two sidewalls, a sidewall cover, a top plate, a bottom wall and a rear cover which are collectively preferably made from a single piece of metal plate, and an outer grounding plate. The outer grounding plate has a plurality of outward grounding spring tabs. A plurality of inward grounding spring tabs formed on the top plate project into the cage for contacting an SFP module. The inward and outward grounding spring tabs cooperate to provide multiple grounding paths and prevent EMI. A plurality of compliant legs, needle eye legs and support legs depends from the sidewalls. The compliant and needle eye legs are extended through a PCB, and prevent the cage from moving during solder reflowing. The support legs abut a face of the PCB. The support legs serve as standoffs, separating the cage from the PCB to facilitate accurate soldering.

  • Patent number: 6478622
Abstract: An SFP transceiver cage includes a mainframe and a rectangular grounding device. The mainframe includes two sidewalls, a sidewall cover, a top plate, a bottom wall and a rear cover. The mainframe and grounding device are each preferably made from a single piece of metal plate. A plurality of inward fingers is formed on the mainframe. A plurality of outward grounding fingers is formed on the grounding device. A central outward spring tab is formed at the bottom of the grounding device. A front portion of the mainframe is mounted in an opening of an orthogonal panel, leaving a gap between the panel and the mainframe. The grounding device is mounted around the front portion of the mainframe, and substantially fits the gap. The central outward finger shields a gap between the panel and a spring latch of the mainframe.

  • Patent number: 6434015
Abstract: An SFP module includes a housing (1) and an ejector (70). An ejector seat (111) is formed in the housing for receiving the ejector. A triangular latch (114) is formed on the housing behind the ejector seat. The ejector includes a push bar (79) exposed forward of a front end (17) of the housing, and a tongue board (74). Two ejecting protrusions (741) are formed at a rear end of the tongue board, corresponding to a spring tab (611) of an SFP cage (6). The spring tab defines a retaining hole (613) for retaining the latch of the housing. When the SFP module is withdrawn from the cage, the push bar is pressed until the protrusions of the ejector have released the spring tab from the latch of the housing. The SFP module is then ejected from the cage by conventional spring means located in a rear of the cage.
