  • Patent number: 6728011
Abstract: In the method of adjusting scanner photoelectric module, a reference pattern is projected to the charge-coupled device through a lens for generating image signal corresponding to the charge-coupled device. The lens and the charge-coupled device perform adjustment in accordance with the obtained image signal to improve MTF value and the magnification (or zooming) ratio. This invention provides a block at each of the two sides of the scan width of the reference pattern and two sets of line patterns between the scan widths of the reference pattern. The two blocks (such as right triangle blocks) are increasing/decreasing in their width and are symmetrical, and have a side at the vertical scan direction, for determining the margins and the horizontal status of said scanner photoelectric module. The two sets of line patterns are vertical and inclined at the scan direction, respectively, for determining the MTF value of the scanner photoelectric module along the scan direction and the vertical scan direction.

  • Patent number: 6707583
Abstract: An image scanner performing multiple scanning operations for a single scan line is disclosed. The additional scanning operations are performed between two adjacent pixels. For a double scanning mode, the CCD performs one scanning operation for a scan line at a first position. Then, the CCD is moved from the first position to a second position along the X-direction to perform the other scanning operation at the second position. The distance between the first and the second positions is a half of the distance between two adjacent pixels. The scanning data of the two scanning operations are alternatively arranged and converted into final image data. By this way, a low-pixel-density CCD can be used to obtain a high-pixel-density scanning quality.

  • Patent number: 6611292
Abstract: The focus controlling system of the present invention can include a calibration paper, an image capturing device, an input interface, and a processing and controlling device. The image capturing device is employed for scanning the calibration paper. The image capturing device has a focus point adjusting mechanism. The input interface is utilized for receiving a location data of a scanning point. The processing and controlling device is responsive to the input interface and the image capturing device to control the focus point adjusting mechanism. The focus controlling method of the present invention includes the following steps. First, a scanning point is set or detected and a compensated magnification ratio for the scanning point is then calculated. A focus point of a image capturing device is adjusted and a calibration paper is scanned. The adjusting step and the scanning step are then repeated until a magnification ratio of the calibration paper is about the value of the compensated magnification ratio.

  • Patent number: 6557762
Abstract: Before assembling a scanning module, the type of the scanning module is predetermined. When the scanning module is predetermined, the shape of MTF-DF curve is therefore fixed. The scanning module includes a glass plate, lens and an image generating means. During the assembly, the image generating means and the glass plate are mounted. A correction document is placed on the glass plate. The position of the lens is adjusted in order to reflect a point at the lowest point of the tolerant range of the depth of scanning field in the MTF-DF curve. The position of the lens is then fixed. An increased depth of scanning field in a scanning device is thusly obtained.
