  • Publication number: 20240091005
Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve includes a frame, a valve component, and an actuation mechanism. The frame has a plurality of struts interconnected by a plurality of joints and is movable between expanded and compressed configurations. The valve component is inside the frame and has a plurality of leaflets. The actuation mechanism has a first expansion element coupled to the frame at a first location and a second expansion element coupled to the frame at a second location. The actuation mechanism is configured such that moving the first expansion element and the second expansion element toward each other in a first direction results in the frame moving from the compressed configuration to the expanded configuration, and such that moving the first expansion element and the second expansion element away from each other in a second direction results in the frame moving from the expanded configuration to the compressed configuration.

  • Publication number: 20220354673
Abstract: A prosthetic heart includes a support structure, an actuator member, a plurality of leaflets, and a sealing material. The support structure includes a plurality of struts movably coupled together such that the support structure moves incrementally between a radially compressed state and a radially expanded state. The struts include a plurality of commissure struts. The actuator member is coupled to the struts of the support structure and is configured to incrementally move the support structure between the radially compressed state and the radially expanded state and to automatically lock the support structure in a particular state. The leaflets are coupled to the commissure struts of the support structure and configured to allow unidirectional blood flow through the prosthetic heart valve. The sealing material is coupled to the support structure and includes a plurality of commissure extensions that wrap around and are coupled to the commissure struts of the support structure.

  • Patent number: 11395751
Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve can include a support structure, an actuator member, and a plurality of leaflets. The support structure can have a plurality of struts and a plurality of rivets. The struts can have openings formed therein. The rivets can have first portions and second portions. The first portions can extend through the openings of the struts, and the second portions are larger than the first portion and the openings of the struts. The struts are pivotable about the rivets to radially expand and compress the support structure. The actuator member can be coupled to the struts of the support structure and configured to selectively actuate expansion and compression of the support structure. The leaflets can be coupled to the support structure and configured to allow unidirectional blood flow through the prosthetic heart valve.

  • Publication number: 20220071784
Abstract: A frame for a prosthetic valve includes pivoting struts and outer bow struts. A first end of each pivoting strut is pivotably coupled to a first pivoting strut, a second end of each pivoting strut is pivotably coupled to a second pivoting strut, and an intermediate portion of each pivoting strut, which is disposed between the first end and the second end, is pivotably coupled to a third pivoting strut. The outer bow struts are disposed outwardly from the pivoting struts. An inflow end of each outer bow strut is connected to the first end of a respective pivoting strut, and an outflow end of each outer bow strut is connected to the second end of a respective pivoting strut. The outer bow struts deflect outwardly relative to the intermediate portions of the pivoting struts when the frame is moved from a radially compressed configuration to a radially expanded configuration.

  • Patent number: 11039918
Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve includes a frame, a valve component, and a skirt. The frame has first and second end portions, a central longitudinal axis extending between the first and second end portions, and a plurality of struts interconnected by a plurality of joints. The joints comprise a rotational axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The frame is movable between an expanded configuration and a compressed configuration. The struts comprise diagonal struts relative to the longitudinal axis when the frame is in the expanded configuration. The valve component has a plurality of leaflets. Adjacent leaflets are attached together and to the frame at commissures of the frame. The leaflets extend from the commissures in a triangular configuration and are attached to adjacent diagonal struts of the frame. The skirt is configured for reducing paravalvular leakage and attached to the diagonal struts of the frame to which the leaflets are attached.
