  • Patent number: 10455912
Abstract: A canopy support structure includes a support pole having a track, a three-dimensional array of hub pairs, and a plurality of articulating arms connecting the hub pairs. The track extends in a longitudinal direction along the support pole. The hubs of each hub pair are movable toward/away from each other during extension/retraction of the canopy support structure. A primary hub pair includes a first hub and a second hub, with each of the first hub and the second hub coupled to the support pole. At least one of the first hub and the second hub is slidably engaged with the track and movable along the support pole. The articulating arms include sets of scissor-connected primary articulating arms. Each of the hub pairs is pivotally connected to at least one other of the hub pairs by a respective set of the scissor-connected primary articulating arms.

  • Publication number: 20180352921
Abstract: A canopy support structure includes a plurality of hubs arranged in series, and a plurality of articulating arms connecting the plurality of hubs. At least one of the plurality of hubs is suspended from above by a support member. At least some of the plurality of hubs are movable toward and away from each other to operate the canopy support structure between expanded and retracted positions. The plurality of articulating arms include a plurality of primary ribs connected directly to the plurality of hubs. The plurality of articulating arms may also include a plurality of secondary ribs connected to some of the plurality of primary ribs, and a plurality of tertiary ribs coupled between the plurality of secondary ribs and other of the plurality of primary ribs.

  • Patent number: 9901149
Abstract: A canopy support structure includes first and second hubs coupled to and movable along the pole or first and second hubs of which one is coupled to and movable along a track. The first and second hubs are movable toward each other during extension of the canopy support structure and away from each other during retraction of the canopy support structure. A plurality of articulating arms is connected directly or indirectly to the first and second hubs. The articulating arms include sets of scissor-connected primary articulating arms. At least some of the sets of scissor-connected primary articulating arms are connected directly to the first and second hubs and extend outward from the first and secondary hubs during expansion of the canopy support structure.
