  • Patent number: 7755802
Abstract: In the method, a digital image is received. A granularity model is constructed of each of the toner stations. A noise table is produced. The noise table is based on the granularity models and is adaptive to the content of the digital image. Noise is reduced in the digital image using the noise table. The digital image is divided into a plurality of color records, each corresponding to a respective toner station. The color records of the noise reduced digital image are printed using respective toner stations. Each granularity model defines a toner applied by the respective toner station.

  • Patent number: 7454697
Abstract: A printing machine has a computer program for aligning pages in a book and printing the book. A user scans pages of a book into a controller or computer where the pages are converted into a file that is independent of the platform that created the documents such as portable document formatted (PDF) pages. Each PDF page comprises content areas of text or graphics or both and non-content areas surrounding the content areas. The program does not remove the non-content area for any placement purposes and temporarily crops the page to determine the size (and position) of the content area. During automatic alignment, the program operates on the files to temporarily crop or remove peripheral, non-content areas and generate cropped PDF pages of the content areas on the pages of the book. The cropped PDF files include one image although it may encompass text and graphics. The program may operate in automatic or manual mode.

  • Patent number: 6437878
Abstract: A method and system are provided for scanning a page having different image attributes on different zones of the page. The method and system use a scanner having a resident image buffer and scanning circuitry including a plurality of scanning algorithms having optimum rendering characteristics for imaging images with a plurality of different image attributes. The scanner scans the page and an image of the page is provided on a display. The operator uses an input device to designate a zone of said page on said display. The data from said scanned page is stored in a buffer resident on said scanner prior to rendering of said data. The operator also designates a selected one of said algorithms to be applied to the designated zone. The scanner applies the designated algorithm to the data stored in the resident image buffer for the designated zone. The scanner renders an image of the data stored in the resident image buffer.
