  • Publication number: 20120027236
Abstract: Acoustic transducer means are provided. A monolithic semiconductor layer defines a plate, a pair of oppositely disposed torsional hinges, a flexible extension and at least a portion of a support structure. Acoustic pressure communicated to the plate results in tensile strain of the flexible extension. The flexible extension provides a varying electrical characteristic responsive to the tensile strain. An electric signal corresponding to the acoustic pressure can be derived from the varying electrical characteristic of the flexible extension.

  • Publication number: 20110249853
Abstract: Illustrative acoustic transducers are provided. A monolithic semiconductor layer defines a plate, two or more flexible extensions and at least a portion of a support structure. Acoustic pressure transferred to the plate results in tensile strain of the flexible extensions. The flexible extensions exhibit varying electrical characteristics responsive to the tensile strain. An electric signal corresponding to the acoustic pressure can be derived from the varying electrical characteristics and processed for further use.

  • Publication number: 20060235824
Abstract: A method and system for improving the efficiency of a database processing system for evaluating candidate data items representing search listings that are submitted for inclusion into a search engine database. Candidate search listings are automatically assessed for quality, style, and relevance to evaluate risk of unfavorable reception by a user and of potential exposure volume. Search listings which are higher-risk or higher-volume are routed through manual editorial review while lower-risk, lower-volume search listings are routed for immediate inclusion in the search database without manual editorial evaluation. Accordingly, human editorial efforts can be devoted to manual review of high-risk or high-volume search listings while efficiency is simultaneously improved in the processing system as a whole.

  • Publication number: 20040167845
Abstract: A method and apparatus determines a minimum price per click for a term in an auction based internet search by determining a search term which has a low price per click; determining a minimum price per click; setting a minimum price per click value for the search term; and thereby increasing revenue generated by the auction based internet search engine. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a minimum price per click for a term in an auction based internet search is determined by creating search volume tiers. Price per click tiers are then created by partitioning search terms within each search volume tier based upon a price per click for each search term. Finally, a plurality of liquidity tiers are created by partitioning search terms in each price per click tier by liquidity of the search term market place. The results of the partitioning is evaluated to determine a price per click increase to one or more particular terms.
