Abstract: A cot has at least one side comprising a sheet of flexible material having a lower end secured, preferably to a bottom rail, and an upper end which is preferably attached to an upper rail and which is capable of being raised and lowered by deformation of the flexible sheet to facilitate access to the cot. The cot also has releasable securing manes such as cords and cleats, to secure the sheet in a raised position. Preferably either end of the side can be raised or lowered relative to the other end of together with the other end.
