    Abstract: A shock absorbing golf club is disclosed that is adapted to minimize the transfer of shock to the hands of the golfer and reduce possible damage to the shaft of the club as a consequence of the impact force that is typically generated should the golf club head inadvertently strike the ground in advance of the golfer's ball. The foregoing is accomplished by the shaft of the golf club sliding axially and reciprocally through the grip which surrounds the shaft. A compression spring is located within the grip to receive and dissipate the impact force that is transmitted from the club head to the shaft to cause the shaft to slide through the grip towards the spring.
