Publication number: 20170310765Abstract: A system and method for location-based document processing device selection includes a device including a processor, memory and a network interface. The device is configured for data communication with a plurality of identifiable multifunction peripherals. The memory stores contact data mapping each multifunction peripheral to at least one designated contact. The device is further configured to receive status data from each of the multifunction peripherals and to store received status data in the memory. An analytical engine calculates list data from stored status data. The device selectively generates alerts corresponding to identified multifunction peripherals in accordance with an analysis of the list data. The device communicates the alerts to at least one designated contact in accordance with each identified multifunction peripheral and the contact data. The system thus supplies users, such as print users or service technicians, listings or mappings of proximate devices for use or servicing.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 20, 2016Publication date: October 26, 2017Inventors: Michael L. Yeung, Marianne L. Kodimer, Jenny Zhang

Patent number: 9794443Abstract: A document processing system and method includes a display, and an embedded controller that includes a BLUETOOTH low energy network interface that is configured for communications with mobile computing devices. When a mobile computing device of a user approaches to within a threshold distance of the document processing system, the user can be presented with directions to the document processing system or service related information about the document processing system. With the mobile computing device is within close proximity of the document processing system, the embedded controller sends the user interface of the document processing system to the mobile computing device for display to the user. The distance between the mobile computing device and the document processing system can be approximated using the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) of BLUETOOTH low energy communications received from the mobile computing device by the document processing system.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2016Date of Patent: October 17, 2017Assignees: Kabushiki Kaisha Toshiba, Toshiba TEC Kabushiki KaishaInventors: William Su, Jenny Zhang

Patent number: 9792653Abstract: A system for automatically recommending treatments for delinquent accounts in collections is provided. The system includes one or more sub-models for analyzing and scoring delinquent accounts and comparing them to historical accounts to identify similar historical accounts. The system can select and recommend one or more treatments for the delinquent account based on treatments for the historical accounts that may have previously provided a favorable outcome for a similar account. The system may test the efficacy of new treatments and incorporate the results into the memory, thereby learning and adapting to new treatments and account behavior.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2011Date of Patent: October 17, 2017Assignee: Opera Solutions U.S.A., LLCInventors: Gregory Gancarz, Jenny Zhang, Kathleen Marie Crowe

Patent number: 9769355Abstract: A system and method for completing document processing operations between a user device and a document processing device such as multifunction peripheral includes capturing a user gesture at the user device. This gesture is digitized and associated with one or more electronic documents, one or more targeted multifunction peripherals and instructions for processing of the document. This information is communicated to the document processing device where a user inputs a second gesture which is digitized and compared to the first gesture. Sufficient coincidence allows for the document processing operation to proceed.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2015Date of Patent: September 19, 2017Assignees: Kabushiki Kaisha Toshiba, Toshiba TEC Kabushiki KaishaInventors: William Su, Jenny Zhang

Patent number: 9769142Abstract: Networks and methods for use in authenticating messages, based on the clients and the computing devices, are provided. One exemplary method generally includes performing, by an API gateway, validation of a computing device based on a certificate identifying the computing device as one of the recognized computing devices, via the repository, and performing, by the API gateway, validation of the client based on the client certificate via a global access manager, separate from the repository. The exemplary method further includes causing a security token indicative of the client to be generated, when the computing device and the client are validated, whereby the security token is indicative of the client and permits the message, from the client, to be delivered to one or more backend services.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2015Date of Patent: September 19, 2017Assignee: MASTERCARD INTERNATIONAL INCORPORATEDInventors: Jenny Zhang, Justus Srigiri, Brian Loeffler, Ankur Panthi, Marc Phillips

Publication number: 20170223216Abstract: A document processing system includes an embedded controller that has both a local area network interface for receiving documents over an associated network and a wireless personal area network interface for communicating with mobile computing devices using BLUETOOTH low power communications. The embedded controller transmits broadcasts message to nearby mobile computing devices that send responses to the broadcast messages. Based on the RSSI of a received response, the embedded controller can determines whether a particular mobile computing device is in close proximity, indicating that a user is present at the document processing system. The embedded controller sends identification data associated with the document processing system to the mobile computing device.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2016Publication date: August 3, 2017Inventors: William Su, Jenny Zhang

Publication number: 20170186426Abstract: Document interfaces for control of operation of systems or devices can be cumbersome, and users must issue complete device instructions each time, often using interfaces that are not user friendly. A system and method for man-machine interfacing receives natural language input from one or more users. The natural langue input identified relative to a user, and passed to extract information such as instructions to control a device. Incoming user instructions are compared against prior instructions from the same user, and a determination is made as to whether prior information is usable in connection with the current instructions. The system thus anticipates a user's needs based on prior activities of that user. Input from other devices associated with the same user, which can be used to gauge a user's habits, can be used to further refine proposed device activity to enhance a user's experience.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 28, 2015Publication date: June 29, 2017Inventors: William Su, Jenny Zhang
